Greet your visitors with a DIY project you will all love. The Welcome Slat Sign Wood Crafts from Foundations Decor includes 20 pieces that can be assembled into a customized welcome sign that measures 9" x 16.5". The package contains pine slats finished with a vintage paint, base, stem, handle, screws, magnetic self-adhesive plates and the letters to spell out "welcome." Holiday greetings and icons to customize the sign are sold separately.
This isn’t quite what I expected, so this is based totally on my expectations.
When it says 20 pieces you think there must be more magnet pieces than shown. What is disappointing is that the screws are considered pieces. So the base, the handle and the screws are part of the 20 pieces, as well as the welcome letters. I thought the WELCOME letters would be magnetized but they are not. So you need to paint them and then glue them to the wood sign. I repeat, wood sign. The sign part is not metal, as I for some reason thought.
So anything you want to put on the sign, you have Three small squares of magnetic material that you permanently stick on the wood sign base. Then you add metal to back of your words or sign, then attach to the small square magnet piece you permanently attached to the sign base. If you want more you need to add your own magnetic pieces and glue them on permanently to the wood base.
I have magnetic material so I can make this work with various projects. However, I feel they should have made this a metal base where you could attach anything metal to it without needing to use their three small square magnet pieces. And if you buy their add on pieces, please beware, they are not magnetic. You will need to attach a magnet piece to your words or project in order for it to stick to the base. You will need to do this with anything you put on the base that you don’t want to be permanent. Such as changing theme or season.
