I too Love this product. I have read many mixed reviews , but I have found It easy and the options it can do are limitless. I am terrible at cutting straight, but with this it's a breeze. I love the letter templetes and now my titles are really starting to look great. I do prefer useing a glass mat with it.

If you're a little tool challenged, you might want someone to show you exactly how to use this tool. I've heard a lot of complaints from ladies who just couldn't get it to work correctly because it was tearing paper or not cutting at all. You have to make sure the blade is positioned correctly and that you have the stencil correctly placed if you're using one. If you use the tool correctly, it's very easy and fun!

This is an awesome cutting tool but it's not for everyone, as I've heard mixed reviews from some. I happen to love mine, it is excellent for those of us who want to cut a variety of shapes and borders but don't want to spend the money on more expensive cutting systems. You'll need to practice using this at first - make sure the templates and cutting board are right side up and that you hold the cutter correctly. Be sure you press this AGAINST the template as you cut (not DOWN towards the paper, that will lead to snagging). Cut slowly. Once you get the hang of this, it cuts like buttah and the results are fabulous! You'll have to adjust this for different paper thicknesses, this cuts through photos and almost all my papers just fine! I must admit I have a hard time cutting my thickest Club Scrap cardstock with this, but in those rare instances I just use the templates to trace designs that I free-cut. I really enjoy creating all these shapes and borders with this inexpensive cutter!

This is one of the first scrapbook tools I purchased for myself and I still love it. This is easy and comfortable to use. I like how you butt the center part against the template instead of holding the bare blade against it like some other systems, I have never cut into my template and gouged it yet. It is also very sturdy. Mine has been dropped several times and while it has popped apart once or twice it always has gone back together with no damage to any of the parts. This is the only template tool I recommend to anyone.

I absolutely love this product! I purchased the starter kit originally and although I didn't get the hang of it at first, once I watched the instructional video that came with it, I was hooked. Even though it looks relatively easy to use (and it is!) there were several key pointers on the video that really made a difference. I now use this constantly! I love the borders on the templates as well as the variety of shapes available. I did find cutting out the square and the rectangular shapes a bit more difficult than the circle and ovals, but once I slowed down and didn't rush, it really wasn't a problem at all.

I have this and was getting ready to swap it in my next scrap get-together BUT i read everyone's reviews and i will give it another chance. I will try it again and hopefully get it to work but if i/it fails, out it goes with the scraps:):)
UPDATE (jun 07): went to my lss and the fiskars rep was there to demo all of their product and we got a hands on exp..I used this and now, i am happy to say that it works!! so now i can say i like this product and will try to use it more often!

This was the first shape-cutting-thingy that I bought. It was inexpensive and I ended up buying about five other templetes for it. It does take some getting used to and as other reviews state: Make sure the template is facing right side up. I did have some problems cutting very small pieces. I love to use it to cut pictures (something that I haven't figured out with my Cricut). It's also really quick and doesn't require an electical outlet.

Love this little tool! It moves with ease and it's light. Just put a glass mat underneath and you have a perfect place and tool to make your own swirls and designs. I would def. recommend this to anyone..

I did not receive the exact product pictured to my dismay. The product I received is a little difficult to figure out. I did not send it back because I did figure it out finally. So I guess from now on I won't trust what product pic. Is used on-line.
Great with fiskars templates and also like that you can use it freehand to make designs.

Exactly how do you use the cutter? I still have the cutter but have given up on it as it gouges the template and tears the paper

You need to use the Fiskars (or similar) self-healing cutting mat under the template. Use the Fiskars orange templates (multiple shapes on an 8.5 x 11 thick plastic) and make sure the template is placed so that the raised grid marks are next to the paper and NOT on the side where the cutter should glide. Press on the template firmly so that it doesn't slide as you push the cutter around the outline. It may still take a few attempts to get the correct feel; the blade should glide and swivel as you move it around the outline shape. I always go around twice unless I'm positive there are no spots where the blade didn't cut all the way through the paper after the first pass. Good Luck!
