The best adhesive solution I've found (and I've tried them all)

I've been through almost every kind of tape runner that is produced for scrapbooking, and found fault with almost all of them. My Scotch ATG 714, however, is hands down the best tape runner or gun I've used. First, the cost is extremely low compared to other runners. Second, it is very easy to load and use. There is a little bit of wrist action you have to learn when "releasing" the end of a run of tape, but other than that it's pretty much intuitive. Third, since each roll of tape is 36 YARDS long, I don't have to constantly keep adding refills. I've gone for two 6 hour crops on the same roll of tape with some left to spare. I also like that the refill produces very little waste- just the tiny core and the backing paper is disposed of. I've disliked other tape runners that seem to replace half the mechanism when you install a new refill.

      No regrets at all

I had heard from some people that the Scotch ATG gun could be considered awkward and hard to load, but I did not find this to be the case at all. First, I thought loading was pretty easy. There are markings on the inside of the gun that make it clear how the tape feeds though there. Granted, it's not as easy as a refillable cartridge of adhesive, but it's a lot more cost effective. And I think using it is really straightforward. And it never gums up or jams, which I think actually makes it easier to use than the smaller refillable adhesive applicators which often gum up or jam. I have been using mine for almost two months now and I still have tons of adhesive left on my first roll.

      Great Adhesive and Dispenser

For years I've wanted an adhesive dispenser that was large enough to hold lots of adhesive with a very user-friendly applicator. When I saw this tool for the first time I wondered where it was going to fit on my drawing table and how well it would fit in my hand. I'm happy to report that it's balanced, fits comfortably in my hand and stores well at my table when not in use. I can always find it among the piles of paper and supplies I work with too.

I was astounded at the number of layouts I was able to complete with one roll of tape. The dispenser is easy to reload because of the embossed diagram on the discarded tape side (when you remover the paper backing roll you'll see it). When you put a new roll of tape onto the right-side wheel you'll have no problems following the diagram.

I really like the press, release and lock trigger and once you get the hang of it you can place adhesive quite accurately.

If you don't like the color of the casing, you can paint it with Krylon spray paint made for plastics. I saw where a user in our Gallery had done this and then added rub ons.

Great for right and left-handed use.

    • ATG 714 ROCKS!

The Scotch 3M ATG 714 Adhesive Gun ROCKS!!!!!

I have taught and demonstrated scrapbooking and general crafts all over the country, and used every manufacturer of adhesive.......I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!

It seems bulky and akward looking when you look at it, then when you put it in your hand it isn't so bad..then you use it and are like, WOW!

You must practice for a minute or two at first to get the feel for it, but once you have a good grip on how it works and feels, you will be amazed at how fast you can zip through a page! I use it for cards, pages, and other paper projects too. The refill rolls last forever, and the application is so precise without YOU have to be careful!

Two thumbs and two big toes up to Scotch for this one. I actually was at the booth trying it during CHA, when the girl who helped them develope it came up and showed me exactly how to use it. WONDERFUL!

    • Awesome Tape Runner

I have used every tape runner that I could get my hands on. With one simple hope. That I can finish a complete project without running out of tape.

I am so grateful to the ladies in my scrapbook club. That is where I discovered this awesome applicator. The only thing that I did dislike at first was the size. However, the adjustment did not take long. It is so light weight, that I take it to all of my scrap clubs.

This tape gun is totally worth the money. The adhesive is awesome. I don't have to worry about my photos or embelishements falling off. Nor do I worry about running out of tape in the middle of a layout.

If you have not bought one, I would highly recommend this product. Not only will you save money in buying so many refills. You will be able to make several layouts and projects from just one refill. Buy it, you won't regret it!

    • No Regrets!!!

I've had my ATG 714 for about a year now. This is by far the best adhesive I've used! It really sticks and keeps my project in tact. How many times have you seen your page fall apart when you tried to take it out of the page protector? I haven't had any problems with my layouts falling apart since I've started using the ATG. In fact, the permanent adhesive sticks so much that it's hard to move the pieces afterwards. I'm indecisive so when I want to move a piece of paper or embellishment, I keep a bottle of UN-DU handy.

Although the initial investment for the ATG is high, you will get more adhesive with each roll compared to other tape runners. So you'll end up saving more in the long run.

    • Takes getting used to

It's big, it's a little bulky, and you definitely need the instructions to get the adhesive roll threaded in there, but it's not too difficult.

It takes some getting used to - from where you put it down, pulling the trigger and then letting go and lifting it up without leaving a string of adhesive.

The adhesive is VERY aggressive - more so than even our beloved Tacky Tape. So be careful when you position pictures, paper, etc. It's not moving once it goes down without seriously ripping some paper or even destroying it.

It isn't good for adhering smaller pieces of paper or embellis to LOs - use this for your bigger elements.

I'm so tickled with mine - worth the investment!

      Adhere until your hearts content

At first I thought this adhesive gun would be way too bulky. It is rather large, but is has some great features. It holds a large roll of tape, and I like the fact that you just have to buy the refill. Some adhesives have disposable dispensers. This one is very sturdy and light weight. I also like the fact that there is a trigger on the handle so when you do not need any more adhesive you just let go of the trigger and lift up. No more guessing if the adhesive is going to come out of the dispenser or if it's going to stop where you want it to. Once you figure out how to load the roll of adhesive it is fairly simple. Now I couldn't live without my Scotch ATG Adhesive Gun!!!!

I don't know how I scrapped without this!

I kept seeing people talking about this atg gun, I was a little intimidated by the size of it, so I put off buying one. But then someone else on the message boards had mentioned something about having small hands and had no problem at all with the atg gun. I ordered it as soon as I read that. There is a small learning curve on how to load the tape into the gun, but it only took a few minutes. It is so easy to use! This is probably my best investment in scrapbooking! The refills are not very expensive and you get 36 yards of adhesive. So, if you are reading this and you have the opportunity to invest in the atg gun I say do it you will not regret it!!

    • Can't live without this one

I just love my ATG gun. I am left handed and have no trouble using this item. There is a small learning curve to these items. However once you try them, you will end up with more than one like I did. (Yes even with the cost of the item, it is worth the price. ) I love the way you can remove extra tape by just rubbing it when you put the pages together. There are different tapes with different sticking strength. Great for paper to paper, and chipboard to paper. I now have 2 of them the 714 for the small detailed items and the 700 for 1/2 inch tape for the larger itemsl.
