Brilliance Archival Ink Pads by Tsukineko are excellent for most glossy surfaces, including vellum, photos and coated papers. Brilliance Ink is also perfect for stamping on or applying directly to ordinary paper, tissue, wood and other porous surfaces. The inked area of the pad is 3" by 1.75" but the raised pad makes it easy to ink any size of rubber stamp. Brilliance ink is acid-free, fade-resistant, non-toxic and child-safe.
I have a whole collection of Brilliance ink pads in various colors, and this color Moonlight White was one that I didn't really like or use much. That was, until I discovered its secret. It works only on non-porous / glossy paper! I've tried using it on very dark paper and seemingly NOTHING showed up. Then one day I was playing with stamping on clear acrylic sheets, and voila! Not only did the shimmering white show up beautifully, it also made the sharpest and most detailed impression among other colors I tried such as Planet Platinum and Graphite Black. I experimented with the same stamp, so it's not an issue with the stamp design. I figure this color has a finer ink than the other colors. Since then I've played with this color more, and my latest technique is using a Ranger ink blending foam to buff it over gesso and glossy photos. It creates a subtle pearlized sheen that you can't achieve easily with mediums like sprays. It goes exactly where you want it, and is mess-free too! Was choosing between 4 or 5 stars, decided on 4 because of its limitation in not being able to be used on patterned papers.
There's a reason that Kelly Purkey uses this ink on all her creative stamping projects, it's the best! It stamps clearly, it goes on smoothly to all surfaces, and it looks super sharp. It's pretty fast drying for white ink (but still be careful when letting it dry, it does take longer than other colours). I love stamping with this ink right onto photos, it looks so great and gives me the opportunity to stamp on my dark photos too. Highly recommend, this is my fave white ink out there!
I like it but it was not what I wanted for stamping purposes.
