    Cute die

I love most of this die, but I had some issues trying to cut a piece of thin cardboard (like cereal box thickness). It also is a borderless die so the outside perimeter has to be cut with a separate die or by hand. Beyond these issues, it can make any 4.25x 5.5” rectangle into a puzzle.

Love this die.. could use improvements for what I want it for

Okay! I have a lot of thoughts about this puzzle die. Overall, I definitely love it. But I kind of wish it had a cut edge around it. I can totally see why not having a cut edge is beneficial. But it is a little limiting depending on what you want it for. It works well if you JUST want to make a small puzzle. In fact, it's the only decent puzzle die I've seen. It could actually take someone like 10 minutes to do this puzzle without seeing a picture, I bet. While some other dies are just a few small pieces -- they're more for decoration of a puzzle theme, while this one could actually be a decent puzzle. However! I wanted to make a card base with a space for them to do the puzzle in. But because it doesn't have a cut edge, I had to use my regular rectangle dies to cut a space in a card base... but the puzzle doesn't fit perfectly into that, so it didn't fit. It has to fit exactly perfectly or you can't really do the puzzle in the space. I tried everything. In the end, I scrapped my card base idea and just sent the individual pieces in a tiny bag. But it still looked great! Another thing to note, is that each piece is slightly connected together after you cut it. Which makes sense, because then the pieces don't fall out everywhere when you take it out of the die cutting machine, and you can move the puzzle in one piece. BUT then you have to cut each individual piece apart by hand (with actual scissors - you can't just tear them apart) and it's SO TIME-TAKING! It took me like an hour to the pieces apart, no joke. So I can see the benefit of keeping each piece slightly connected, but honestly I think the benefit isn't enough to outweigh the hassle of cutting each piece apart by hand. It would take less time if all the pieces fell apart from each other and you had to put the whole puzzle back together again, honestly it would. Or you could just use transfer tape... genius! Anyway hope this helps.

I really like this die. It's fun to use. It cuts well and makes any card or card front into a puzzle.

    Almost Perfect

I love puzzle dies and thought this one would be great because it has more pieces than others I have. It has several plusses IF you don't want to separate the pieces after stamping and put them in an envelope for the receiver to play with putting them back together.
Look at the samples on site to see the ideas, which are beautiful and fun, but not what I was looking for at the time. It took a painstaking hour + to remove each connecting edge to separate the pieces (and in a few instances to trim them) because I had glued two sheets of paper together before running the die through my Gemini Jr. to make a thicker puzzle; however, the "body" of each puzzle piece easily came out. One of the ideas I thought of that really makes this puzzle die GREAT is also ironic. I was able to make 5 cards for future use where I'll send them in pieces BUT in the meanwhile, because they DON'T easily fall apart when you pick up the image from your die cutting machine, I was able to store them together as flat sheets in one of my plastic storage envelopes; I put a THIN sheet of acetate between each puzzle so there is no problem finding each one. Later when I want to send the puzzle all I need to do is add any finishing touches, separate the pieces and VOILA!

    Good size, clean cut

I really like this puzzle die. It’s a little larger than an A4 card (5.5x4.25”) and cuts very cleanly. The only thing I wish it had are deeper cutting edges. It is the average depth of other dies, making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to cut through ticker paper or multiple layers. So if you want to create a true puzzle, the puzzle pieces will be very flimsy and hard to assemble. I have tried to cut a second piece of paper to attach to the back of the actual image, but that’s too hard.

    Like

I like the size of this die and the puzzle pieces will be good for a little older child as well as adults. I need to try this die out to see how it cuts and if I'm happy with that, I will add some to this review. It's been difficult to find puzzle dies that are a good size for my likes. This die is not as wide as it looks to me, but that's not a drawback, as it's still a nice rectangular shape.

I'm happy with this purchase, so far.

    • I plan to find a picture that I like, trim it to the size of the puzzle die and then cut. I agree, it is much easier to stamp a pic or have a picture, then cut By: Mary HK (13-Feb-21) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
