This 7 piece thin metal die set is designed by Hero Arts. This die set is designed to help create a forest scene and to create dimension on your paper. These dies can be used alone or with other stamp and die sets from Hero Arts (sold separately) for many more creative options. This set includes 4 mushrooms and 3 ferns. These dies are compatible with leading die cutting machines (sold separately). The large fern die measures 1.8 " x 3.5" and the smallest mushroom measures 0.5" x 1.1".
This set of dies is really nice, with the ferns and the mushrooms. I like both mushrooms and ferns. Ferns are very graceful and mushrooms have sort of an antiquy/grunge look to them. Don't know if that makes any sense, but that's how I see them. Both lend themselves well to art, especially the mushrooms. Both are very realistic and I like that. I can see them as being good for mixed media, as well.
The possibilities are endless with this set. I ink blended a full sheet of cardstock in bright fall colors. Then I cut these elements and leaves from another Hero Arts die set. I’ve made six cards so far and still have pieces left for more. Lots of fun! I think I’ll try a white on white card next. That will be different, don’t you think?
These dies are so great for all those gnome and fairie stamps. So easy to build a scene with them.
Great cuts and well sized for my cards! … Tried a couple of different colouring types (paints / inks) and each brings a different look … Good addition to my stash!
These mushrooms and ferns ate great for year round cards.
I just love these dies! I’m working on a couple cards with them now. I’ll try to post my results later. I used craft paper on one and, using alcohol markers, colored them in. Popped a couple out with dimensionals. They look enchanted. Did I mention that I love these dies? 🙂🌻🇺🇸
I appreciate the artistic delicacy of these dies. The ferns, especially, will be useful additions to many of my cards. What I DON'T like, however, is the fact that all the dies are connected by little pieces of metal. It is a pain to bend these back and forth to remove them, and a LITERAL pain to use the dies with the sharp spurs this leaves along the die edges. For the amount paid for these, I expect Hero Arts to have better quality.
This is so wonderful. I am having so much fun.
Love this die, can use it on so many different things. Embosses with good detail.
Every time I have to cut apart a bunch of dies I worry that a piece will get in my eye or something. I position my flush cutters as close as I can to the edge, hold it over the trash can, close my eyes tightly and squeeze. If I work with small dies I work over a table and try to hold my hand over the piece, because otherwise it goes flying and may get lost. Then the metal connector tab always leaves a sharp dangerous place where I could get cut later when I use it.
Plus the quality of the dies are poor. They are way thin and don't stick to magnet sheets very well at all.
