This plate works great in my Cuttlebug! So glad I got it for those really intricate dies. Scrapbook (dot) com has the best price on this plate, I know because I checked!
It is sturdy and not thin like tin foil. Will last for a long time.
It's wider, than the one I have. I have been using it different ways, for me I have put it under the top plate. This stops it curling up when you run it through the Big shot. I haven't noticed any damage on my dies.
This is a similar size to my big shot stack and works
well with my platform and cutting plates. I would recommend if you have a Sizzix Vagabon cutting machine or a big shot.
This metal adaptor plate helps my intricate and not so intricate dies cut right thru and uniformed.

Where does this plate fit into the "sandwich"?

The manufacturer says, "Sandwich the metal plate adaptor between the base and a cut plate. Do not place it directly under the paper and die, otherwise, your metal plate adaptor will get "embossed" with the die image. But if that happens, don't worry! It won't affect the performance of the metal plate adaptor!"
