DO NOT BUT THIS TRIMMER! It works initially but let's face it all blades need replacing eventually you cannot but a replacement blade. I wrote the company and they do no offer one for sale. SO your investment of $5o is wasted as soon as your blade goes dull!
Save yourself some grief and buy another one!
This is such a good papertrimmer I wouldn't change it for anything! I thought my old one was... well... OK. It did it's job, but it was kinda hard to cut and you really had to push down the blade for it to cut properly. This one is SO easy to use. Just slide in the paper under the little plastic strip and cut!
Also, I love the grid on the cuttingboard. You can fit a full 12x12-paper and cut all sorts of sizes with help from the grid. Makes perfect cuts every time with almost no effort needed at all. :) If you're gonna get a new papertrimmer, this one is worth every penny! (And I paid the regular price plus shipping to Sweden plus Swedish taxes which are 25% of the amount, and I still think it's worth every penny!)

I researched this product long before I decided on it. I am sorry I did now. I went ahead and purchased it and wasn't not pleased at all with the cut and the end of my project. It was a ragged cut and non -professional looking by far. I returned it and got a refund and bought an entirely different brand. Much happier now!
I used it today and have to go buy one soon!! I tried this one out and love it. I like the gridlines..so if you want to cut a certain size like..4x6 you can just use the gridelines and cut the perfect size.
it takes a little getting used to..considering it is a little large..and the blade takes a little but of effort to push..but once you use it awhile you get used to it in my opninion. Even though it is larger in size, it is really lightweight and folds in half to take to crops!

It's always seemed to me that one of the tools which crafters rely on for accuracy time after time is the paper trimmer. Finding the one that works best is the equivalent of the Holy Grail. Since I wasn't going to spring for, or wait for, a Genesis, I tried many types of cutters and brands of cutters. Most fell short in one way or another--didn't hold up, cuts became unreliable, markings wore off, blades constantly needed to be replaced.... I heard good reviews about this Making Memories trimmer and now I'm a believer, too.
First of all, this is a sturdy and well-made trimmer, yet it's still portable because it folds and is held firmly shut by a magnet. When opened up, it easily accommodates 12x12 inch paper. It's well marked with lines and measurements that are easy to read from both the top and from the bottom. It comes with a magnetic ruler to help hold paper in place. There's also a plastic guard that helps keep paper from shifting while being cut. The cuts themselves are accurate and reliable. The blade is also self-sharpening.
All in all, this is the best trimmer that I've bought to date. I'd recommend it highly.
This paper trimmer is a sturdy, well built tool that looks like it will last forever. I've had mine for a couple of months and it is outstanding. The trimmer folds out so that you can lay a complete 12x12 piece of paper on it. This allows you to line up the paper on the grid, where it stays put if you use the magnetic ruler that comes with it. The trimmers with the extendable rulers drove me nuts because I could not line up my paper where I wanted it because I could not see the lines on the extended part.
The grid on the trimmer was what sold me on buying it. It is clearly marked in print that is large enough to read!! Even after spending half the night on the message boards here at sb.com.
The only draw back is that it is big and it is heavy. But, I still have my little Fiskars if I want to haul a trimmer to a crop.
I have had this trimmer for over two years now and LOVE it! I found it very easy to learn to use and that was before I was a scrapper that I bought this. I bought it on a whim after my first dog died and really didn't care what it cost or if it would work well. But I am so happy I did purchase this! The self-sharpening blade is FANTASTIC and is the best part of this. I also like that it folds i half so I don't have to open it up most of the time.
My only complaint is that it is hard to cut under 1.5 inches. The safety guard that is there takes up that space. Other than that, no complaints here!
I have been using an old lightweight trimmer for years that couldn't cut a straight line, and I can't believe I waited so long to get the MM trimmer. Wow, what a difference! It cuts straight, every time, no waviness, no crooked cuts! It's even, the magnetic ruler holds the paper perfectly, it is self-sharpening and the grids on the base piece are very helpful. The only downside to this cutter, and it is one I am willingly dealing with, is that you can not see exactly where you are cutting because the blade-housing covers it. You need to rely on measurements to cut, and not do it by eye. No biggie.
I absolutely love this trimmer. I'm used to the rotary blade, and this one is very easy to use. The blade is super sharp and the grids make it a very accurate cutter. I specially like the fact that you can fold it back making it easy to store and take it with my to crops. It includes a magnetic ruler which comes in handy when working with transfers and rub-ons. I use the ruler a lot when working with rubons, that way, my fingers don't put pressure anywhere on the sheet ruining other transfer images.
Before I bought this MM trimmer I was using a light weight travel trimmer.
What an amazing difference. I love that this trimmer has a self sharpening blade, so I will never have to spend money to replace the blade!
The cut is amazing. No frayed edges! Just a nice clean cut.
I love that it has some of the more popular cuts already marked on the trimmer. It is actually really helpful.
This trimmer is a bit large. So it does require a bit of room but I say it is absolutely worth it!!!
