I got this without really knowing about it and I absolutely love it. It's a good strong product and I probably will be getting more Deflecto products.
I bought this not realizing the drawers do not go all the way in. Looking at the picture I realize now that what is shown is how it is. (I thought the top drawer was pulled out like the bottom drawer.) However, it seems to be of good quality and it works for what I need. I would recommend this product to others just with the understanding the drawers don't close tightly. There is a little metal catch that I didn't realize was to attach more of these cubes together if needed so that's a plus as it should help keep them steady. I am happy with the product.

What are the inside dimensions of the drawers? Specifically, how tall an item can be put in a drawer? And which is the 7.25" dimension, height, or depth, front-to-back?

Thanks for your interest in Deflecto Storage Products. Unfortunately not. The items that will go on the mounting bar are the Deflecto Interlocking Tilt Bins (item #21103CR and 421103CR) and the containers that fit in the Deflecto Stackable Caddy Organizer (Item #29003CR)
