The Foil Press is designed to work with the Gemini brand die cutting and embossing machines (all other machines mentioned are sold separately), and it comes with a foiling platform that is perfectly sized to fit the Gemini Jr. Note: The FoilPress can also be used with the original Gemini machine but users will need to buy a Top Plate Extender (sold separately) to be able to use this correctly. Such a nice touch to my card marking, and it’s easy to use as well. I’ve only had it for a week but I’m really enjoying having it in my crafting room along with the Gemini Jr.
I was so excited to get this foiling system. I had to buy the extender plate because I own the original Gemini. This whole system has given me nothing but grief. It jams in my Gemini to the point that it is almost impossible to get the plates out of the cutter.
I read all the instructions and I watched several YouTube examples on how to do it before I started. They all made it look so easy but it is not . Using other thinlit dies is about impossible also.
Upon reading reviews on other sites I am not the only person to experience these problems. Jamming is a constant issue and it actually ruined one person's Gemini cutter.
This was not a small purchase and I wish I would have saved myself the money and the frustration. I would not recommend this to anyone.
It is extremely rare for me to leave a bad review but this product definitely warrants it. Possibly this foil system works better in a Gemini junior but I'm certainly not going to spend money on another cutter only to be disappointed and poorer than I already am.
I honestly feel this was one of the worst purchases I have ever made.
This machine was sold out everywhere but I requested to be notified when it was back in stock. As soon as I got the email I ordered it. Scrapbook.com always has excellent prices and their shipping is very fast. I couldn’t be more pleased with the hot foil product and with the buying process. Thank you!

I am confused. Do you need some extender plate to use this with the full sized gemini machine?

It's true that the extender plate will engage the heat sensors, I believe so that you can use the Foil Press platform in your larger original-sized Gemini cutting machine. But, just in the last year, a NEW platform that is sized 9" by 12" has been created by Crafter's Companion, which means that you can now create foil projects due to the size of this much larger platform that simply was not available before. This platform, I am told simply clicks into the original Foil Press machine as the 5" by 7" platform does. It can be purchased separately, and then you would not need the extender plate unless you are using the smaller platform for the Foil Plate.

You may be able to use any thin dies with this but they may not work as well as the ones for this machine. You can use this product with both the Gemini and Gemini Junior machines.

Any heat activated foil will work, such as the ones for the Glimmer machine. Toner foils, such as Deco Foil, Gina K foils, and the ones for the Minc machine, will not work.
