Questions & Answers
  • What is a metal shim? What is it used for? Where can I purchase one?   By: susiewongtso (04-Apr-22) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • A metal shim was designed to help you cut intricate dies in a Die Cutting Machine. Simply add this to the cutting sandwich between the top of the die (non-cutting edge) and the top plate to gain a little extra pressure for those finely detailed dies. They can be purchased at many online stores. By: Scrapbook.com (05-Apr-22) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • They are also called metal adapter plates or metal cutting plates. I made plastic shims from flexible cutting boards I bought at the dollar store. That might work, too.
