  • Nice craft watercolors

I am a watercolor and acrylic artist that also loves to scrapbook and art/bible journal.
I bought these paints mainly for the tin palette they come in.
My expensive paints didn't have a palette, and to buy a palette empty is as much as this set costs full of paints.
First, the tin is nice, it is nearly as nice as my Schminke tin palette. The paints pans stay snugly in there place as long as you know to bend the aluminum tracks inward so the half pans "snap" into place on the outer track. "Lip".
The paints themselves are bright and cheery and fully of color.
I won't say pigmented, simply because the brand lists no pigment names or lightfastness ratings. So I don't know what they use to achieve their colors, whether it's dyes or actual pigment.
Prima's paint line is relatively new and they have had a lot of requests for chemical pigment identification and labeling simply so artists can see how lightfast they will be in the long run.
For having no pigment info available, I took off one star.
Personally, I will be using these for cards, scrap booking and art/bible journaling only, that way the possibility of them fading due to possible poor lightfastness is reduced greatly simply because they won't be as exposed to artificial or UV light.

They are a little more opaque than traditional watercolors, but that is fine with me, I use these for watercolor effects and light gouache effects.

Overall, I wouldn't paint my masterpiece with them, however, I am happy to use these for art journaling and card making. The colors are all pretty and vivid. I was able to make some beautiful additional cool and warm browns, magenta and purples by mixing the colors together. I was also able to get some very soft pastel effects by watering the colors down or adding a bit of Chinese white to a specific color mix.
~Great packaging, I will reuse this tin and the plastic half pans ( which are expensive and only sold from a shop in London). A+ for packaging. You don't often see these types of sets offered in such a nice artist quality tin palette. Big thumbs up for that 🙆🏻👏🏼

    Love these sweet watercolors

I love the confections. I have all three sets ( Tropicals, Basics, and Decadent Pies). The colors are so much more brilliant and bright in person, the quality amazing and the carry tin is user friendly. Plus the price at SB.com is fabulous.

    Prima watercolor pans

I bought all three color waves of these watercolor paints. I love them, the colors are all very vibrant. They are a bit more heavy with color, wish allows me to lighten them several times, making so many more color options.

Just absolutely love these watercolors! They are very pigmented. The tin is very user friendly. I already have this set and the classic. I am very happy with this purchase. Another home run for Prima Marketing.
