  • The spray paint is oil based and it dries and can be fully handled in 1 hr. I've tested is multiple times and know. Is the stencil compatible with oil based paint? • I have a 3" wide flat mirror frame (large: 3 ft by 5 feet) painted with oil based paint. I'd like to know if I can use this product and then use oil based spray-paint to create the image? Will the oil based paint be ok with it? Will it lift up edges or do anything bad? Thank you   By: JnBinAZ (14-Jan-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Oil paint is not ideal for stenciling. Oil-based paints can take a long time to dry; the longer the drying time, the more potential for a marred design as the paint seeps or blobs over the stencil.
