Saw this on a tutorial video an decided o give it a try. So far I have only used it to put gesso on projects and it is wonderful. It spreads so smoothly and you use all the paint. It's easier to clean than a brush also.
i was happy with how this item works. it spreads paint and gel easily , the handle is comfortable to hold. BUT I found that my gel stuck to the silicone blade more than i expected, and when trying to wipe it off with a damp rag it started to pull the silicone head sideways out of the metal ferrule. I was afraid it was going to tear the silicone where the nails go through the metal so I stopped. and thus render this tool unusable in future.
I bought three of these in the same size as their price was good, but i noticed that two of the blades looked like they were cut slightly askew and one had a flaw in it's front surface. I was concerned that it would affect how well or smoothly the blade would apply any mediums. It wasn't noticeable but i wasn't aiming for super smooth at that time. I think this tool is ok for scooping product out of containers but for smoothing large areas i would choose another tool .
I scrapbook and art journal. I use my silicone brush for art journaling. It's great for spreading mixed media. So far I only used for gesso and gel medium. I think it should be good for texture paste also especially with stenciling on scrapbook lo.
I bought the larger and smaller silicone brushes and I am thrilled! I make a lot of home made journals and books, so I use a lot of glue. I had been using a small sponge paint brush and throwing it away each time. These brushes spread the glue smoothly, and even if the glue dries before I wash them, it rolls right off!
