Create crisp, waterproof designs with the Three Mini Kit Distress Archival Ink Pads by Tim Holtz for Ranger Ink. Included in the package are 4 mini ink pads that are waterproof, acid-free dye inks. The colors included are Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso and Black Soot. Each pad measures 1.25" x 1.75". Made in the USA.
These are beautiful inks. I like the size being just a bit larger than an ink dot/cube, and the compartments are easy to open yet stay snugly closed which I find an improvement on the dots/cubes I currently own - especially when trying to get them out of the storage containers. I've used watercolors and watercolor pencils on watercolor paper and smooth card stock with no issues (keeping in mind the properties of the paper types). I also used alcohol ink on smooth card stock with no issue. These inks suit my purposes well. And yes, they do maintain that distress quality as advertised.
I bought them all recently but have mostly used this set for over watercolorand other images.
I love the distress archival ink pads. Using them for stamping on cards, tags and bookmarks right now.

I'm confused. I get archival inks for photos etc. but couldn't one just color with alcohol inks, let it dry and then stamp it with pigment ink and emboss (or not) for cards?

All three inks mentioned can be used to create cards. You can color with Alcohol Inks you need to make sure your photos/cards are printed on Gloss Paper as regular cardstock will absorb the ink and bleed out. Another great medium to try to colorize is Distress Embossing Glazes. These glazes are a translucent embossing powder so you can color with the clear Distress Embossing Pen and then emboss the image in the areas you would like to colorize. Tim has many videos on you tube and it just depends on the effect you are trying to achieve on your photo cards.

These are waterproof acid-free inks so it really depends on what type of projects you would like to create.
