I've had trouble recently with my roller TAPE (different brand) and had intended to try a different tape runner, but ordered the dots instead. Am I glad I goofed!
The "dots" are tiny - they aren't like the "dot" adhesives, that come in circle sizes of varying diameters. They are tiny dots, arranged in a pattern, than go on in a strip about the same width as a standard tape roller. If used like a standard roller - they work the same.
BUT...here's the good part... if you run it over something like, say, a punched strip or a cut-out image that has minimal surface area, the little dots on the strip adhere only to the back of the paper and the rest are just left behind on the waste paper. So, you can run it over short sections of a punched strip and then adhere, rather than running it through something like a Xyron sticker maker - using less adhesive! It's cost-effective!
I'm looking forward to trying the TAPE next - what I'd originally intended. But am I glad I goofed!

I received this Adhesive Dots Roller Thursday when I picked up my order. I had ordered the Permanent Adhesive 6 pack so this was an extra treat for me. I have used both the dots and the strips and I love them both. They go on so smoothly and the roller operates perfectly. I will definitely use both from now on. The price is right and there is 32 feet on each roll.
I have the Scotch adhesive applicator gun however it is too big for some things and doesn't always lay down evenly anyway. And using glue dots for everything else seemed wasteful. So I decided to give the "dots" roller a try. I thought the dots would not have the same problems with starting and stopping -- and so far I am correct. I have been VERY happy with this roller. I can put it on big or little embellishments (but not tiny ones) and it goes on just where I want it and the item sticks where I put it. I plan to purchase more of them.
These tape runners are a real disappointment -- the tape is not centered on the roller which causes the adhesive to accumulate on the side of the cassette -- and this causes the roller to lock in place until I pick off a glob of adhesive. It works for a while, then there is another glob. I used three of the runners to see if I had gotten only one bad one, but all were the same. I've been scrapbooking for about 20 years -- have used many tape runners and never had so much trouble.
The first roll of this tape that I opened was completely dry. I kept trying to find a place on it where there was any glue but only got a dry powder. I opened a second roll and have been able to use it. It remains to be seen whether the other 4 rolls of this order will have adequate adhesive on them.

Wanted to try a new tape adhesive as the brand I've currently been using has really been giving me issues and have been throwing most of the unused tape away! I REALLY like these dispensers, so smooth and so much easier to manage around circles and curves. The dots were new to me but I actually like them better than the solid line. I'm still gonna order the solid tape and give them a try also. If they perform the same way as the dot tapes it'll be a win - win for me! Now I just have to wait for both of them to got back into stock. :(
