So, what exactly is chipboard? Chipboard is cardboard or paperboard and is a thick paper of pressed fibers. The material can be made in a variety of grades from very thin to very thick to create different products. Chipboard is always heavier than cardstock and is popularly used for scrapbooking, cardmaking, rubber stamp projects and more. It's also acid free, lignon free, and archival.
Here are some fun ideas of what you can create with this extra thick chipboard:
Here is a question from one of our valued customers:
Q: “Is this chipboard strong enough to be used as a cover for a scrapbook?”
A: “Absolutely. Very thick, just over 1/16” (3/32). You may need a Crop-a-Dile to punch holes. If you want to test, about 8 pieces of (Michael’s) Recollections brands of Kraft cardstock is just about the thickness of this chipboard.” - clrutz
A: “I just received my order yesterday and haven’t had a chance to use this product in a project yet. It appears to be double the thickness of medium weight chipboard and should hold up as a scrapbook/minibook cover.” – Rbrandom
You’ll want to make sure to have chipboard on-hand for any project that you want to try, you will love the versatility of the product and that it has so many uses. Get ready to have some creative fun making gifts, paper crafts, home décor, DIY projects and anything else that you can think of!

What our customers are saying about the 12” x 12” Black Chipboard:
“This is a very nice thick chipboard, and it’s black on both sides and center. I plan to use these for an upcoming black and white affair, where I need signs posted. I will add additional items to it, but I love the thickness of this chipboard. It will easily stand on an easel without worry of flopping around or bending. Arrived with no bent corners. Very happy with this purchase!” - Furgie
“I bought two single sheets of each color and sizes because I wanted to check the quality and thickness. I am very satisfied and have placed an additional order of the black thick. The 12 x 12 and the 8.5 x 11 are manageable sizes and the chipboard is very good quality. This will be my go-to for book and album covers going forward. Great product.” – ramey549
“Ok, the chipboard is a little more expensive, but if you’re going to make a book that you want to last, you’re better off buying great chipboard, glue, tape and the best card stock for your pages. This chipboard is by far the best I have ever bought. I bought from two companies the same weight. The other company sandwiches two medium ones together literally! The one from Scrapbook.com is an excellent chipboard that isn’t sandwiched and it’s heavyweight as described. It cuts just fine. I love it and to me it is worth every penny. I am sorry this long, but I hope it helps and I don’t work for anyone! I will continue to buy it as long as they can make it available for us.” – sister#7
