What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?
Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.
What are color families?
The Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks are designed in color families. Each color family has four individual colors numbered 1 through 4 (1 being the lightest shade in the group and 4 being the darkest shade of the group). Color families are an extremely important aspect of layered stamping because each of the four colors coordinates together to achieve a dimensional, layered look. Every Hybrid Ink Pad has the color family name and the color family number clearly labeled on the lid along with the name of the ink pad and the ink shade. NOTE: The 1 color for some color families is designed to be an incredibly light whisper of a shade for that group.

This Pink Lemonade Hybrid Ink is a great shade for all the pink I love to craft with. I love to pair it with Ballet Slipper. The pink is subtle. But it goes on with a solid impression. It's used by me mostly for ink blending. But also found with the Alpha Stamps to match many colors of pattern paper I am using. I think this is a must have pink in a crafters stash of ink.
Used in this project: Hey Cutie! ~ World Card Making Day (weekend)
It sometimes tricky buying ink online but this was a good purchase. I needed this color in something that would dry permanent. Some of my very first inks were Scrapbook.com inks and I find myself using them often and just working them in with all the others. I like their ink pad texture, its not all squishy.
I needed a nice coral color for stamping and this stamp pad is perfect. It's very high-quality ink. I was very impressed with the quality. I plan to order more colors. It does dry to the color swatch. While it is wet it appears pinker.
This was the first Scrapbook.com exclusive ink I got, and it hooked me on these inks. They are so versatile and the colors are gorgeous. This is my new favorite light pink ink - I use it for everything!
Used in this project: Hello! Card
This color is a good shade away from the Pink 2. I'm glad I got this pink group.
Great Color! Love the scrapbook.com ink pads. Such a large selections to choose from.
Nice juicy wet pad, bright colors and a comfortable pad shape to hold. Lovely color.
This was much lighter than I was expecting, but my project still turned out how I wanted it.
The color of this ink is exactly what I expected and it's very close to the color shown on the lid. However, the stamped image, using a high-quality rubber stamp, was blurry. I tried it 4 times and used the same stamp I use to test all my inks, but each time the image was blurry enough that I'd be embarrassed to use it on a card or scrapbook page. This pad will be used for blended-ink cards (e.g. part of a sky at sunset).
