What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?
Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.
What are color families?
The Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks are designed in color families. Each color family has four individual colors numbered 1 through 4 (1 being the lightest shade in the group and 4 being the darkest shade of the group). Color families are an extremely important aspect of layered stamping because each of the four colors coordinates together to achieve a dimensional, layered look. Every Hybrid Ink Pad has the color family name and the color family number clearly labeled on the lid along with the name of the ink pad and the ink shade. NOTE: The 1 color for some color families is designed to be an incredibly light whisper of a shade for that group.

Am in love with this black hybrid ink! Goes on nicely--no splotching--and works well with detailed stamps. I can use my Chameleon Alcohol Markers with ease and it doesn't smear. A great addition to your ink stash!

First purchase from Scrapbook.com and low and behold we have a winner! This has to be one of the best ink's I have ever used. There is something about the Hybrid Formula that makes it the best. It is a very bold black and is excellent when using water formula markers, watercolors and or alcohol markers it truly does not smudge. I will be purchasing more of these in the future and keep up the color selection.
A great black ink that will not smear when used with alcohol markers as well as water based media. Love the convenience of having one ink pad that works with all my markers!

I will be buying some of the other ink pads too, in multiple colors. Well done, Scrapbook.com. (or as my grand daughter says scrappycom) Maybe I shop too much with them?
I just got this ink pad & couldn't wait to use it. I use the Crafter's Companion paper that is made to be used with the Spectrum Noir markers because it is really white & smooth. I've had some problems with other ink pads smearing even though they that say they're made for use with Copic markers. This ink pad was wonderful!

I struggle with black inks as a lot arent a true black, this really is and works brilliantly with all mediums. Highly recommend this as a craft room stable.

How do these compare with Palette Hybrid Ink pads?

Hi! I just received my Scrapbook.com hybrid ink pads today - I purchased the kit that has black and 3 grey tones; I also purchased the refills for this kit. I did a side-by-side test, using the new Scrapbook.com black hybrid ink pad and my freshly re-inked Palette Hybrid Noir Black ink pad.
How do the Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Ink Pads compare to the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks? Can you use them the same way and get the same results as the Distress Oxide Inks? Are the creamy and blendable?

I don't own this product but I do have a hybrid ink and it's a different formulation than the Oxide inks. Oxide inks react with water and hybrid inks are waterproof and safe for alcohol markers. Both are great products but for different uses.

Is there a preferred way to store these ink pads. I remember dye inks were supposed to be stored pad up and pigments inks were to be stored pad down. (Or vice versa LOL) What should I do to maintain these properly?

Good question! Storage of the ink pads are a personal preference. The performance of the pad itself isn't affected either way. The biggest issue would be leaving the lid off of your ink pad for extended periods of time, which will dry your ink pads out much faster. I hope that helps.
