Size: Platinum 6 Machine measures 12.6” x 9.5” x 7.5”

Not only will you be impressed by how this amazing machine performs, you’re also going to love how it looks in your craft room!

So, pull out your foam, balsa wood, metal, wood veneer, fabric, paper, felt, cardstock, cork, chipboard, vellum, foiled paper or other materials and let’s get creating!

The Platinum 6 features VersaCut technology that provides strength, durability and power. The solid steel core construction will cut up to 6 layers in a single pass when using the Contour Steel Rule Dies (sold separately). The sides of the machine fold up and the handle can be removed making on-the-go crafting and storage a cinch.

How to use the machine:

  • Insert the base platform
  • Insert the Clear Cutting Plate
  • Add your cardstock, foil or other material you'd like to cut
  • Add your die (place the ridges side down) atop your material
  • Add your second Clear Cutting Plate on top of that
  • Run your die through the machine by turning the handle
  • Use your Tool ‘N One to brush off excess paper and the spatula attachment to remove the paper from the die

How to use for embossing:

  • Insert the base platform
  • Add your die cut or paper of choice to the top of the Cutting Plate
  • Place the embossing mat on the top of your die cut or paper
  • Add embossing plate
  • Run through the machine by turning the handle

How to use with steel rule dies:

  • Add Clear Base Cutting Mat
  • Add your steel rule die (cutting edge is face up)
  • Add your cardstock or desired cutting material
  • Place top cutting mat on top
  • Run through the machine by turning the handle

How to care for your machine:

Clean the machine and its accessories with a slightly damp cloth only. Do not use a cleaning product or chemical cleaners on the machine. Canned air may be used to remove dust and debris from small areas of the machine. If your handle requires lubrication, place a small drop of household dish detergent between the white and bronze parts of the handle and rotate the handle to distribute. Alternately, you can remove and immerse the handle into clean water with dish detergent. To prolong the life of the plates, use both sides and remove any scrap materials after cutting.

Tips:

  • Do not use WD-40 to lubricate handle
  • Use the Tool N' One (sold seperately) to keep your machine and dies clean and tidy and to pick up stubborn paper scraps from the die cutting process
  • If the result of die cut is incomplete cuts, add a shim (piece of paper at least as large as your die templates) between the bottom Cutting Plate and your die template to increase the pressure while die cutting.

Warranty:

The Spellbinders Platinum 6 comes with a limited one year warranty. The machine is warranted to be free of defects in workmanship and materials. Spellbinders will repair or replace a defective product or parts without charge with proof of purchase. If the product is damaged due to misuse or neglect, the warranty is null and void. What customers are saying about the Spellbinders 6:

”For years I longed to own a die cut and embossing machine, but held back because of certain limitations or bad reviews from buyers. My main motivations for purchasing the Spellbinder's Platinum 6 from Scrapbook.com. • Smooth and quiet operation. No cracking or popping noises during operation. • Multi-media cutting and embossing capabilities it can process a wide array of materials. • The Platinum's platforms fold up and the handle retracts to form a sleek and compact exterior design–making storage an absolute breeze. • It was on $ale!!!” – NYScrapMOM

“I'm new to die cutting but so far I love this machine! It was quick and easy to learn and has been lots of fun not just for me but my 4 and 5 year old nieces as well, they love helping! I have other cutting machines that I can't always depend on but with the Platinum 6 I never doubt whether it will successfully make the cuts I want. No wasted materials with this machine. Also love how it folds up and stores easily!” – alliroaz

“I have had nothing but trouble the last few years with manual die cutting machines and I'd all but given up! This machine came ready to rock, it's cutting beautifully from all kinds of thicknesses including extra thick watercolor paper, and all brands of dies and texture folders work with it. No more adding shims to certain papers and having to re-cut. First time perfection, every time!! Thank you Scrapbook.com and Spellbinders for sending this my way to check out because I am not sure I would have tried it otherwise and it is everything I was looking for!” – May_Flaum

“There are several things I adore about this machine! 1) Its size. I love that I can leave it out on the top of my desk. It folds up when it's not in use and doesn't take up too much real estate. 2) Its appearance. I love the white and gold colors of this machine and its sleek design. It looks beautiful in my room! 3) Its function at cutting detailed dies. In the past I have had to use a detail cutting plating plate, or send a die through multiple times to get the detail to cut cleanly ... I was pleasantly surprised to discover just how much BETTER this machine cuts detailed dies with just the regular plates included with the machine. Plus, it's quiet! No crackling when sending my project through. I LOVE this machine and it has found a permanent home on my desk. Thank you, Spellbinders!” – Jana E

    Platinum 6

I absolutely love this machine. I have the Grand Calibur and love it also but at times it is so much larger than I need, I also have the Sapphire and am loving it also because it is great for the tiny things, kind of like the Three
Bears, Papa, Mama and Just Right! I believe the machines to be superior because they are quieter and smoother to operate. Not as cumbersome as the Sizzix products.

    Great Manual Die Cutter

I needed a new manual die cutter and loved the fact the Platinum 6 will cut with steel rule dies as well as wafer dies as I own both. I have always loved Spellbinders machines (I have had two previously). The roller pressure is great and the machine makes thick sandwiches go through without feeling like I'm breaking off the handle.

    Wonderful Die Cutting/Embossing Machine

I am beyond happy with this machine ! I had the Big Shot for about 5 years, and was always having to add "shims" and extra papers to cut a nice clean cut on certain thin dies. Not with this one! All the extra plates make for super easy and CLEAN cuts each time! I haven't been able to stop using it since it came in the mail yesterday! Wonderful product, and the fact it closes up for easy storage and less "space taking" is BRILLIANT! Love!

    Easy to use

The Platinum 6 is easy to use. The handle turns well, and die cuts come out cleanly. I like the way it folds up and looks good on the shelf when not in use. I find the 6" wide cutting area to be enough - few dies are larger than that, it seems to me. I have only used it for cutting paper, and it is great for that. I love that it is compact, yet does everything I need.

    My favorite tool!

My Cuttlebug died after 9 years and I decided to upgrade to this beauty. Best decision ever! I absolutely love my new black Platinum 6 die cut machine and it's so easy to layer plates for embossing, die cutting, etc. Sandwich directions are right on the base plate with visuals. It doesn't get any easier! It comes with a thin shim which is great too.

    Disappointed

I bought this machine to die cut intricate dies and emboss with stencils. It does die cut the intricate dies, better then other machine I have, but the paper remains in the die and is difficult to remove. So far I have been unable to emboss using a stencil. Used different sandwiches to no avail. My old machine has a magnetic platform and the Platinum 6 does not. Contacted Spellbinders and there is no magnetic platform available.

    Great product!

I previously owned the Sizzix Big Shot before owning the Spellbinders Platinum 6 and I have to say that I love the Platinum 6! This machine folds up to be much more compact for easier storage, is quieter and seems to be smoother when running the plates through! I would definitely recommend this die cutting machine!

    embossing machine

I'm really loving my Platinum6 machine. I have always used the Big Shot but couldn't find it at Joann's anymore. They discontinued it. I was looking for a replacement and found the Platinum6. I love the fact that it folds up and takes less space on my work counter. This was an excellent replacement.

    Wonderful!

I've been looking and checking all sorts of reviews for Dye Cutting and Embossing machines. Once I decided to get the Platinum by Spellbinders I've never looked back! This is worth every penny! I use it almost daily and have never had to run the dyes or embossers twice--once does the trick beautifully! True to Spellbinders quality control-- they nailed it! Kudos to you at Spellbinders!
If you would purchase the Platinum I doubt you would ever be disappointed...I know I'm not!

    New Adventure

Everything arrived promptly and in good condition. Have not had any experience as yet with the Spellbinder Platinum 6, as I am waiting for other products to arrive so I can begin my new adventure of embossing and die cutting gift cards. However, I do thank you for the good service I have experienced thus far.

I am wondering a few things here and hope you all can help me out. How much this fabulous sounding invention weighs?
I have shoulder and wrist instability due to Ehler-Danlos Syndrome and am limited as to what I can carry. What are the handles like, the carry and the crank? What have you found to be the best way to store dies?

I'm new to embossing, but have purchased a few 5x7 embossing folders. I'm thinking of purchasing this machine. I've read the embossing instructions, but am a little confused. Doesn't the paper go inside the embossing folder? Do I need to cut my embossing folder ? The instructions say:

    Insert the base platform
Add your die cut or paper of choice to the top of the Cutting Plate
Place the embossing mat on the top of your die cut or paper
    Add embossing plate
Run through the machine by turning the handle

Thanks for any help.   By: User (13-Feb-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • The paper goes inside the embossing folder. Do not cut the embossing fold, it is supposed to stay attached. By: VickyLevy (15-Feb-19) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • Embossing folders are different than the embossing mat. The instructions you mentioned are to turn your dies into embossing. If you use the mat instead of the die plate it will put an impression into the paper instead of cutting it. Another way to stretch your dies. Embossing folders hold the paper inside and should never be cut apart. Hope this helps. By: mzlikely (03-Jan-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I have followed the instructions explicitly that were included with my spellbinders platinum 6 and have yet to successfully emboss a card with an embossing folder using your instructions. I put in the platform then the embossing folder with the card and then the plastic plate. That in itself just quickly runs through the machine without embossing because there's not enough pressure. I have to add 3 pieces of card stock to make it thicker. Is there something I am missing?   By: sanuhl (16-Jun-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I had to switch to my old trusty Sizzix machine to use 3d embossing folders. I broke a couple forcing the sandwich to go thru, the on-line store I bought them from were so incredibly nice that they replaced them for free. I tried every instruction, emailed for help, tried every sandwich that I found from every stamping guru and I never got it to work. My old machine is reliable and does work. • I've been pretty successful using 3D and other embossing folders to work with my platinum 6 and the platinum spellbinder. Following the instructions of sandwiching does not work. I have tried using some of the embossing plates and play with the thickness to get the folders to work successfully. It's a trial and error but once you decide which embossing plate and die cutting plate works together, then you're in business. I'm not an expert nor am I a beginner. I just tried different things to see if it will work. By: Blessed4me (12-May-23) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
