I was so excited when my Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die cutting machine finally arrived to my home back in August. Now it's November and I'm sad to say that after only a couple of months of use, I'm looking to purchase a new machine. It actually broke an embossing folder. I've tried different variations of sandwiches, and even added sales circulars that come in the mail for added pressure, but it just will not emboss. Oh, and the plates are already warped, so I had to purchase new ones ....
This is a great hand-crank die cut machine! It cuts like butter and works well with the Scrapbook.com Magic Mat. It embosses wonderfully and I love that it comes with a universal platform so you can cut or emboss with dies and folders from a variety of companies. It also works like an absolute dream with Spellbinder's own Glimmer system. Using it with my Glimmer is the main reason I bought this die cut machine but I will definitely be using this die cut machine for more than just hot foiling because it is simply that wonderful!

Thus is such a well constructed machine with a small footprint. I'm a long user/lover of my Cuttlebug once my plates were no longer available I started looking for another compact machine. I purchased the Magic Mats and they worked with shims. So long story short..I'm very happy that I chose this little gem. The Universal Plates is definitely a win. I've just started learning what combination works with different dies but it is giving me a nice clean cut and cuts like butter. I just wish replacement cutting plates were available

WOW the Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine exceeded my expectations.
I use this machine primarily for embossing so I am not sure how it handles as a die cut machine.

Had to snag its sale price first. Like what I have seen so far from opening top.🤣🤣
First reason I bought this was because I thought it was the Scout and with all the units for sale... I guess I got confused.
Second reason is because I thought being portable by folding up would make it easier than having to go to my Sizzix switch (which I love).
Yes, the unit is portable and I can keep it just under my desk but there are so many plates to it, it is insane.
I am so glad my sizzix doesn't have that many. I also have a sizzix big shot from when I first started. It got minimal usage because not long after I got the switch. But it is really big and no where close to my work desk can I put it. It has alot less plates too. Switch isn't that big but I don't have an outlet where I would need it to be.
I was really really surprised when I did the die piece that came with it. Cut nicely BUT, it scarred both clear plates. Either of my 2 Sizzix has never done that to me.
I should have paid the extra and bought it on Amazon, they take it back at no charge for shipping either way. Lesson learned. No buying expensive stuff online unless shipping is free for both ways.
