This package of two white mylar shims is part of the Univeral Plate System Collection from Spellbinders. These shims are designed to be used with the Spellbinders Platinum and Platinum 6 die cutting machines (sold separately). These shims are designed to fill in the gaps within the layers of the die cutting or embossing sandwiches so that they are level, when needed. These shims measure 9.62" x 6.06".
SP - The Universal Mylar Shim was a perfect addition to my die cut platform system. Using this shim in my platform to correct the loosey goosey fit in my machine has prevented me having to waste cardstock for this purpose. I've been using it over a month now and it is holding up consistently. Highly recommended as an option when consistent minute adjustments are required.
I have some cheap die that has some embossing in them, and they are intricate, and the die machine cuts the die flat doesn't cut through. I saw another crafter on YouTube playing with these mylar shims, and I thought to give a try So I did by putting the shim in between my plastic platform my chrome plate, paper, die with blade facing down, and my cutting plate, and it worked. It helped these dies with the embossing look like a more expensive die. I like how thin they are and I can used one or both. I like them. I feel it a great buy for the price!
I use these in a different brand of die-cutting machine. They help with cutting intricate dies and with odd-thickness embossing folders. The large size makes them easier to find in my workspace and I can use them on my extended platform.
I love the Spellbinders universal plate system and am excited to add additional shims. The variety of embossing folders add depth and beauty and these shims will help get the correct pressure. Sometime one shim is not enough!
I love using this shim, it gives just the right amount of space needed, to make a nice even die cut.
These shims add that little bit extra thickness to allow some dies to cut cleanly.
I bought these as spare, because the original shim is till working just fine as part of the updated platform package.

These thin shims are handy, but you do have to be careful with placement so that none of the edges overhang the platform.
