    • Etched dies are made using a chemical such as acid to cut the die. This process is cheaper than die cutting by a machine. The die tends to be thinner and may not cut as deeply as a machine cut die but you can always add a shim to help the die cut. I use a metal shim, I place it on top of the die, add my plastic cutting plate and run it through my sizzix. Never force anything too thick through the sizzix , back off and try a piece of thin cardboard or a piece of heavy cardstock to shim with. Happy crafting.
