Create unique and unusual designs using your favorite mediums and the Mini Set 28 by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous! The package includes three mini layering stencils Mosaic, Stone and Slate designs that each measure 3" x 6". Use them together, separately or with stamps to create a variety of different effects. Each stencil has a convenient hole at the top for easy storage.
The stencils are a great size for cardmaking, the stencils are sturdy and detailed, but work incredibly well with texture paste. Easy to clean, and strong enough to prevent bleeding better than most stencils. Favourite!
I used the rough stone stencil for the outside walls of a wooden castle.
First I painted the basecoat, which would be the grout in the final stage. Next I used the stencil with acrylic paint and added texture medium to give a 3-d effect to the walls. I used a spatula at first, but then I used an old stencil brush to pounce the paint. Both worked well, but the pouncing was faster. I let that dry thoroughly before doing the shading.
For the shading, I used the stencil again. I lined up the stencil with the stones I had painted. Then I pounced a shadow color in the lower and right edges of each stone. This really made the design pop. Using the stencil for this stage kept my shadow paint from getting on the grout and made this step go quickly.
Finally, I coated the stonework with a light coat of sealant. My son-in-law was amazed and said he would use it to keep his DnD pieces all in one place.
I really enjoyed the quality of the stencils. They held up to repeated use and scrubbing with a soft toothbrush to clean dry paint. I would definitely recommend.
I can't wait to use this one. I wasn't sure which type to buy; so I bought both mini and also the regular stencil; but I think I will like all of them. These are fabulous!

I like this set a lot for creating patterns on smaller gel print plates which I use for creating cards. Lots of open spaces.
