Sizzix - Accessory - Magnetic Platform

Love the Magnetic Platform! Sure wish they sold this in the package with the machine. Most crafters who are just starting don't know what they need. This is a must-have, I have the Big Shot and wanted to start cutting those beautiful thin lits with intricate designs right away! I couldn't understand why my items weren't cutting all the way and I was very discouraged. I didn't want to pick or use my craft knife to get my items out. The market is so flooded with items to purchase; and unless you research and read reviews, you won't know the platforms and cutting pads you really should use. I did my research, but that isn't to say everyone will do the research. I've read in many reviews some put their machines up. So glad I took the gamble to see how it would work and purchased mine!

Problem with user, not the platform

In spite of obvious graphics on the platform, this user forgot to put the bottom clear plate in place before cutting. DON'T DO THAT!!! Expensive mistake on my part. Otherwise, it is a really great accessory to have. What might have helped me is if there were an orange or red "Caution" sticker with a warning to be sure to put the bottom plate in place before cutting. I hope my experience helps someone else avoid this user error!!

Sizzix Magnetic Platform for Wafer Thin Dies

This is an excellent and convenient accessory for the Sizzix Big Shot to be used with the wafer thin dies and sizzlits. It simply makes the sandwich that is needed to roll through the machine so very easy that there is little to it and the dies come out perfect every time! So happy that I purchased it!

    Magnetic Sizzix Platform

I have been using a lot of thinlets, framelets and other metal dies, this is worth every penny especially when its on sale.
I just put down my dies, it snaps into place and stays.
I don't have to struggle getting the tape on right or how it comes off.

There is also an extended platform as well but so far the standard size fits my needs....and budget. :0

    Magnetic Platform

Item works exactly as advertised & with the free online video classes my card stamping creativity has increased.

Also, I am receiving my orders within 2 days of ordering them. It can take over a week from other online sources.

  • Is the magnetic platform better to have than the precision base plate? Why would I need both? Are they used together or separate? Thanks   By: whimsicalwhinery (07-Jan-16) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • I am not familiar with the precision base plate. I have the multi-purpose platform base and the magnetic platform base. I use the multi-purpose platform for thicker dies and for embossing folders. I use the magnetic platform for thinner dies and I love it. If I have very thin dies, I use a cardboard shim underneath the magnetic platform. This probably doesn't answer your questions, but I wanted to give you my insight. • I recently bought several wafer thin dies and have planned to purchase the magnetic field when on sale. Unfortunately before purchasing it, I had to have an emergency implant of a pacemaker. I just noticed that there is a warning that the magnetic field can be harmful to pacemaker wearers. Are there any steps that can be taken to prevent problems or are there alternative ways to get the same results without using the magnetic fields?   By: joaniebacz (24-Oct-17) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Using the plain platform (non-magnetic) that came with the machine, just tape down the dies and paper so they don't move. I place tape at top and bottom of the die making sure they don't move if I run the sandwich back and forth. By: heynsl (20-Mar-18) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I receiveded one of those little purse shaped sizzx die cutters and I am really having a hard time figuring out how to use and what dies, will fit into it. I have brought 5 differant dies and 1 works for sure, 2 need one of those magnetic things ( I think), the rest are to big. I'm soooo confused. SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE. Even the clerks in the store seem to guess what's right. The machine Did Not come with anything but instructions to put it together.   By: Claudia Broz (24-Feb-17) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • If you have the same cute little purse sizzix that I had it is called a "texture boutique" and can only emboss. I had one for a while and opted to get the cuttlbug so that I could cut dies as well as emboss. Your little purse will use all the cute card size embossing folders but that's it. Hope this helps. • I just got my magnetic extended platform. I have some longer boarder dies and there was only a $10 difference between the sizes and I only want to buy this once, I opted for the extended one. • I am new to Sizzix and was trying to get a little more thickness to cut a die I was having trouble cutting (Tim Holtz Festive Greenery) so I made the mistake of using the die on the magnetic platform which seemed a little thicker then just the extended platform. I pushed it through and it peeled off the top paper off of the magnets. Have i ruined it or can I stick something on the magnets and still use it? Help, help anyone?   By: Afountain (28-Nov-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Do the magnets still work I think the paper is for information mostly i think and should actually be on the bottom side the magnet side should be face up. I would try again and see if it works still. I sometimes have used an extra sheet of paper or cardboard to add extra depth for a good cut if i didn't have a shim.
