Add a lacy elegance to your projects with the Crochet Thinlits Die set from the Alterations Collection by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. There are 4 thin metal dies included in the package that measure 5.5" x .675" to 6.15" x 1.25". The dies are compatible with the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines. The set requires the use of a pair of Cutting Pads and the machine's included Platform; when using the Essentials Platform or Solo Platform & Shim, the Extended Adapter or Solo Adapter is required. All items are sold separately.
I got these to make lace for my 12 x 12 layouts. The pieces line up so that you can make a continuous line of lace in whatever length you need. The smaller laces dies are a bit shorter than the wider ones so I need to make three passes on a 12" strip. I'm sure I will use them on smaller projects too, they really do read as realistic lace. I also go the chrome precision plate with this and the cuts are great, I haven't tried them on a standard cutting mat. They are very detailed, but because they can be placed end to end it makes them very different from most edge dies.
This die can be used as trim on everything paper. Looks so real. You have to look at it twice. Great idea. You can make your own lace and in any color you desire right at your craft table. Beautiful product! Couldn't wait to get it.
These cut beautifully even with standard plates in my Bigshot. (I don't have any fancy cutting plates)
Oh I am so In awe of what these dies do!! The Cuts are Spectacular and the look is Gorgeous!! Definitely looks like real crocheted lace edges!!
I love these dies. They cut beautifully (and I am not using the precision plate although I do run them through and then back again.) The detail is great, they are pretty easy (using washi tape so they don't slip) to line up for a longer cut and, if you don't want to mess with a continuous cut, look great just lined up next to a separate cut. Love, love, love them!

This die is absolutely beautiful. It is very intricate. A beautiful addition to any project.
I use a precision plate with my Big Shot when I cut with these 4 dies and sometimes I have to move my paper and die at a different angle on the base plate several times to get all the tiny holes cleanly cut. You also need the cleaning tool with a brush to remove the extra bits of paper. Dispite the extra work and time I spend on these dies, they're well worth it for the effects on cards, scrapbook pages and art journals. They add such a feminine and delicate effect! I love these dies! They're one of my favorites by Tim Holtz and I don't think they'll ever become out-dated or too old-fashioned.
These are a great size for any craft ! They are also very beautiful. The service from Scrapbook.com is great...they let me know when it was back in stock ! They also ship quickly.
The lace patterns are beautiful as you can see from the pictures. I have liked the fact that there are two sizes of lace. I die cut using a regular sandwich, no precision plate needed to get a clean cut. When cut the die cuts have a bit of dimension to them which adds to their overall attractiveness.

Does this dies need a special platform of metal?

It is recommended. The precision base plate helps cut intricate dies like this one.

I can not get these dies to cut all the way through my paper and when I try to remove the pieces they are ripping the area around the holes. What Am I doing wrong?

These would likely work in the cuttlebug machine as long as they are not too long for the plates. These dies range in size from 5.5" x .675" to 6.15" x 1.25".
