Compatibility: This Big Shot Switch Plus Machine will work with all of the Sizzix dies and embossing folders including Sizzix Bigz, Sizzix Bigz XL, Sizzix Originals, Sizzix Scoreboards, Sizzix Movers & Shapers (with Magnetic Base Tray), Sizzix Thinlits, Sizzix Framelits and all brands of chemically etched wafer thin metal dies (all sold separately).
How to Use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch:
To use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch Machine with a steel rule die, place the die between a pair of cutting pads with the paper face down over the part of the die design you would like to cut. If needed, use washi tape or masking tape to secure the paper in place to get perfect placement of your paper. Set the die and pad "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Plus Switch Machine and push the electric feed button on top of the machine.
To use the Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus Machine with a thin metal die, you'll need to use the included Big Shot Switch Plus Platform with adapter A or the Sizzix Magnetic Platform (sold separately), as well as a pair of cutting pads that are included in the starter kit. To create your die cutting "sandwich", begin by placing the platform on the bottom with the adapter on top of it. Next, place the first cutting pad on top of the stack. Then place your paper right side up on top of the cutting pad. Place the thin metal die on top of the paper, with the cutting edge down. Finish the sandwich by placing the second cutting pad on top. Set the die and Sizzix pads "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Switch Plus machine and press the electric feed button on top of the machine and the sandwich should slide smoothly through the machine.
TIP: The Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus machine's polycarbonate plastic cutting pads can make loud creaking, cracking, and snapping noises while advancing through the machine that may sound alarming. Do not panic if your machine makes these noises while cutting. This is a normal part of machine operation and the Sizzix pads and machine are designed to withstand the pressures of cutting.

So many things to like about this machine! Large platform with auto start, after cutting it will hold the sandwich until you remove it, no worries about standing there to "catch" it when it comes out the other side. I like that I can use any of my Sizzix platforms and plates, my 6" sandwich works with this machine so I can save the larger plates for larger projects. It's much quieter than my other electronic machines. The only negative for me is the power cord has a brick in the middle where it plugs into the machine and the wall, this is a personal preference, I don't like big chunky bricks on my cords.

From what I’ve already experienced with my machine I love it. The versatility is wonderful because if you already have a Big Shot you can use your smaller plates on it saving your bigger plates for the big dies. Unlike the Gemini this machine allows you to use your old steel rule dies on it which is a big plus for me since I have quite a few I still use. The machine runs smooth and quiet and I love the pink color, it is bright and cheerful. The only negative I’ve found, I wish it had a handle on the top to carry it with. Thank you Sizzix I hope to enjoy my machine for a long time to come.
I'm in love with this machine! It makes cutting intricate die so much easier. Cuts like butter. The design of the machine is very sleek. I use a Big Shot Plus on a daily basis and so the Switch sure is a space saver!

Sizzix has done a really great job with this machine! The pressure is perfect for getting a great cut every time. I love the wider opening and can't wait to see what dies they might create to take advantage of that! The color of the Cherry Blossom pink machine is truly beautiful too! Shipping was fast and the machine arrived in mint condition!

Stacey from Scrapbooking Made Simple did a video showing what it can/cannot do. Very impressed by her honesty. She is not paid by Sizzix so her answers are her own. Also she informed us that it has taken 2 years for Sizzix to bring this machine to market. They worked all the "bugs" out before bringing it to us. When money is available I would like to purchase this machine as it will help ease the arthritis problems in my hands.

Yes! I have used my extended platform and cutting pads with the switch. Even though they aren't as wide as the platform and cutting pads it comes with, those extended and standard sandwiches still trigger the mechanism to start the Switch. It's great

Yes the extended and the standard both trigger the Switch to feed the items through the machine. I've used an extended platform with standard cutting pads and an extended platform with the decorative border cutting pads.

Recently received the new cherry pink machine and I love it. My question is in reference to the flower die. How do you use the long verigated piece. It the piece to be used as a center of a flower. Please advise. Thank you.

https://youtu.be/r2UFcRnGuWc. Here is a you tube link showing the intricte die being used. The intricite section only cuts the design. Therectangle cuts the inside out as well as having a border. I hope this helps. There are quite a few You Tube videos showing the Switch machine in use.

If you’re referring to the longer rectangular piece with the intricate design, it can be used as an in-laid design, like a peek-a boo you can put a different color behind to give a kind of lacy border look, or use the outer part and cut it out to place it on your card like a border piece, tone on tone, with a contrast peek-a-boo color or even clear using acetate. Many uses. If you’re talking about the smaller rectangle piece, I haven’t looked at it too closely, however I suspect it creates ‘fringe’, which you could roll up and spread the small fringes out to use either as it’s own flower, or as a flower center (the more likely purpose). Hope that helps.
