This 29 piece Thinlits Die set, Patterned Butterfly, is designed by Jenna Rushforth for Sizzix. This die set is going to help you create four gorgeous, intricately designed butterflies that can be used on a variety of projects. These dies are compatible with leading die cutting machines (sold separately). These wafer-thin chemically etched dies are designed to cut, emboss, or stencil a single sheet of paper, cardstock, vellum, or metallic foil. These dies can be used for cards, scrapbook pages, tags, journals, planners, and other paper crafting, home decor, and mixed media projects. The largest die measures 3.125" x 1.5" and the smallest die measures 0.125" x 0.125".
This set will create beautiful, customized butterflies. I only gave it 3 stars because some of the die cut pieces are so tiny that I find them nearly or completely impossible to work with. I will probably stick to the larger die cuts and then embellish my butterflies with pops of color instead of the tiny dots and dashes that the smaller die cuts make.
Pros - the dies cut clean & accurate.
Cons - it's a daunting task to adhere the detail dies.
Tried double sided tape & glue but neither helped.
I enjoy detail crafting but these dies take intricate to a whole new level of frustrating.
Will keep for the butterfly forms but won't be using the details.
This set has too many small pieces for me. However, it does make cure butterflies if you are a patient person.
I love this little die set, with many pieces. There are a lot of tiny pieces to play with in it and you can put many pieces into making the butterflies with, or without using all the parts to it, it looks like. The dies are tiny, with some larger ones.

The thing I love about this die set is that the main die embosses the design for the smaller pieces into the main butterfly piece. You can cut the individual pieces and glue them on, or you can color those parts with pencils, Pops of Color, markers...whatever your heart desires. The dies cut cleanly and evenly.

I would have given this five stars, but I was a little lost on which pieces go with which butterfly. There are a lot pieces. I still can't figure out how they made the butterfly on the bottom right. If you look at the picture on the package, it looks like they overlaid a butterfly on top with the slits in it on top of the base butterfly but there's no matching die for that. All the dies cut well and the overall effect is nice.
I love butterflies and these are so detailed, and a great price.
