Here are just a few of the many fantastic reviews for this product from our Scrapbook.com customers:
"This desktop guillotine cutter makes perfect, sharp cuts, every time. It is so much better than a rotary cutter, which can often leave raggy edges. Once you try this type of cutter, you may never go back to any other kind." - KathieH
"This is the best, perfect size, easy to use paper trimmer. The cutter is extremely precise. Just put your paper in, hold the paper gently, the guard protects your fingers, the trimmer does the rest, perfect cut, accuracy is great. Thanks so much for this great product." - tundra10
"Love the compact size and how lightweight it is. Cuts beautifully, and it's perfect that it is also a self-sharpening blade. No more blade replacements needed. Perfect for compact work areas and taking to a crop." - KreatesKards
WARNING: The stainless steel blade is sharp! Be careful not to touch the bare blade with your fingers and always use the plastic paper guard to protect your fingertips when maneuvering the blade arm.
This wonderful tool is the perfect companion for the cardmaking crafter or creator of all things papercrafts! The durability and versatility will continue to amaze you, project after project! Get crafting with this trimmer to make your next masterpiece a cut above the rest!

And the fact that no else posted about this issue baffles me! If you are measuring exact then this trimmer works, but there is one HUGE problem. The edge of the paper guide is a 1/4 of an inch away from the blade! So if you need to trim off the white edge of a photo, you can't tell where the blade will fall. Tonic has never done this before on any of their trimmers, so why now? If you buy this...Be warned.
This is really a nice paper trimmer, love the fact that you can use it for 8-1/2 x 11 paper. Very sharp and cuts clean . I consider it a good buy.
The first two cuts were okay. I am cutting regular cardstock, nothing fancy. The baby line that I bought from here.
Then, the blade would not go down. Would not budge, at the very top of the blade, by where it meets the metal. I looked at the screws, they are in tact. on both pieces. It is the metal strip that the cutting blade meets to cut the paper. I have to forcefully pull the blade away from that metal strip to make it do the cut.
So, can you imagine how long this piece of cutting equipment is going to last? not long, I am afraid.
I am NOT happy.
LOVING this trimmer. The blade cuts cleanly, and it's great having a 6" measure (my 'old' trimmer only has a 5" measure) I'm also enjoying having 1/4" markings going down the full length of the platform.

Do not know what I did before I bought this! So many trips to counter where I keep the large cutter and now this on my desk and saves me many steps and time. THIS IS THE BEST PURCHASE, SO DO BUY ONE.
Tiring of regularly having to put blades in my SU trimmer/scorer, I decided to give this a try. I like the compact size, although it would be nice if it cut standard paper lengthwise. The blade is nice and sharp, but you do have to hold the paper down firmly, especially substantial cardstock, or it will slip and make an uneven cut.
Love the clean cuts and compact size.
I'm very disappointed as I have the "old style" Tonic cutter and I LOVE IT. The only thing wrong with it is it wasn't big enough. When you came out with this cutter that went to a full 6 in, I was ecstatic. Imagine my disappointment when I received it and the edge that rubs against the blade was not smooth, causing my first cuts to be ragged. I am returning to exchange for another.
I love all things Tim Holtz so when he showed this baby sized trimmer I thought it would answer my needs to having to constantly replace the blades to my slide trimmer. This size cutter was wonderful for portability and taking up little table and storage space but its limitations quickly became a problem for me as the clear plastic guard prevents paper over certain lengths from going through. It took some effort but I was able to remove the guard so when needed, it wasn't an issue but only half a dozen cuts in and the blade was already dull as the cuts weren't complete or clean. The integrity of the blade continued to dull with use though it was supposed to be self sharpening. My last upset is the measuring on the board itself – there is a gap between the ruler and the blade for which you need to account for or you will have your measurements off. I had to mark my papers in advance before cutting which added an extra step and made the rulers on the cutter pointless. I haven't used the cutter since because the blade is so dull and I want only professional results. This is the only time I have given a poor review for any Tim Holtz products and I have a feeling the large cutter would be a 5 star but I don't have the money to try and find out. Don't know if there are bad batches out there since there are so many great reviews for this product? I would really like to be think the later and that I was one of the unlucky ones but there are flaws with this product design at a minimum all should be aware of.
