So far, I LOVE IT! Blade cuts smoothly. Love the grid lines. The only downside I’ve encountered is having to swap out the cutting blade with the scoring “blade”. I would like to have both blades on at the same time — which you can do if you aren’t cutting a full size piece of paper or card stock. But maybe I’m doing it wrong and it is possible to leave both cutter and scorer on at the same time and cut 11 or 12” paper.
I love my precision cutter by Tim Holtz. Watched the into video. I purchased one as my old cutter had seen its day. The TH cutter is a sharp clean cut, no hard pressure needed. Packed with many guide markers on the base. The replacement blade is safely put away until needed. The score blade works great. So glad I made the investment.
Sturdy and I like the extra measurements at the bottom and center
Cuts fantastic. Measurement are too small to see if your vision is not great. Love the trimmer, but the 16th and the1/8th is to hard to read
Great trimmer. Very similar to his other trimmer that looks the same. (Not the rotary one) Love the way you can just slide the paper under without always having to raise the bar. To be honest, I never thought about a trimmer without raising the bar because we always have. Just never gave it any thought, but now after using this it’s like, why didn’t someone think of this before? Light weight so it’s easy to take with you to crops. Glad I decided to see what all the hype was about with this one. Highly recommend.
I have had one issue with paper trimmers, and Tim mentioned it in his live - you have to stop and lift the guide to get your paper underneath. This new trimmer fixes this problem and I love it. This makes cutting much easier.
Over a 20-year period, this is my third trimmer. The first, and by far the most expensive, was a rotary trimmer. The second was the same type as this Tim Holtz Precision Trimmer. Tim’s is the absolute best and I bought it based on his reputation and my experience with other products of his. It is the first trimmer that cut a true, straight line. When I cut my card stock to make a card, it actually folds in half perfectly, both sides lining up perfectly. Also, the blade cuts through the paper like butter. I’m hoping that the blade lasts longer than those for the other similar trimmer I have. Based on its performance, I am optimistic that will be the case. Also, the price point on this trimmer is exceptional.
Excellent product. I recommend this cutting system.
Didn't have a problem with the trimmer until I used it to cut a lot of heavy cardstock. After about 4 cuts, the cutter blade and the track were filled with crumbs, and I had to clean them. Have not experienced this with other paper trimmers. I do like the "spring" lifting function. Wish the scorer and cutting blade would have fit on the trimmer together. Have found that removing and replacing the cutting blade unit is a little more difficult than with other trimmers. The cutter seems happy to come out, but not so happy to go back in. Probably it's just me, and I need to adjust. I think I'll consider a guillotine next time. Definitely will not hinder me from purchasing other Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios products.
The trimmer I received looked like it had previously been used. There was paper fuzz in the tracks when I took it out of the box. The plastic track was all cut up and won’t give a clean cut. Still haven’t heard back from scrapbook.com about my issue.
I also see that there are other complaints online about this trimmer, so I’m curious what will be done with my overpriced new paperweight. Sad that Tim Holtz’s team put out an unusable product.
