Questions & Answers
  • Hi, Do you use a firm rough sponge to press the gilding flakes down? Thank you   By: Nice day (20-Oct-22) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Hello Nice Day,
Tonic does not make a sponge for this. However, we recommend our Dual Ended Blender Brushes (984n). When I use Gilding Flakes, I apply the adhesive, let it dry to a tacky state, then apply the flakes. I press them down lightly with my fingers and let the adhesive dry. Once dray I brush the area with the Blender Brush to the type of effect I am looking for. For an aged look, I lightly brush the loose flakes off. This leaves an aged look. If you continue to brush you will get to a burnished look. I recommend that you practice with the flakes before you do a project. Please note that the flakes that you brush off can be used, so do not through them out. One other tip, you can mix the various flake colors for a beautiful different look. I hope this helps you.
