If you love to use metal dies, then you will definitely want to have the Magnetic Mat B Evolution Advanced Die Cutting Tool by We R Makers. This mat keeps your metal dies in place for accurate cutting and is self-healing. The mat is for use with the Evolution Platform (sold separately) and is compatible with most manual die cutting machines (sold separately). The package includes one magnetic mat that measures approximately 6" x 13".
Have been playing with it today with a variety of dies and it is infinitely easier to cut shapes individually as well as placement on cards. Dies do stay where placed.
I purchased this to hold the small dies from Tim Holtz. It holds them in place.

This mat is absolutely horrible. I purchased this when I purchased the Evolution Advanced a few weeks ago. I've been using it with various thin dies and having nothing but trouble getting them to cut out cleanly.
Yes, I'm using the exactly as the countless videos and instructions outline. It just doesn't work... it's too flexible (or should I say, it's not hard enough). For example, using the die set that came with the Evolution Advanced and the Genius B mat that comes with the machine. Setting on 11 (card stock) and it cuts beautiful. Switch to the Magnetic B mat... all things equal, same die, same card stock and same setting of 11. The die barely cuts through the card stock with the magnetic B mat.
It doesn't matter what thin die manufacturer I use... I can cut fine on the Genius B mat but switch to the magnetic one and it doesn't cut. Shouldn't be that difficult... should be the same.
Comparing the Genius B mat to the Magnetic one, you'll see a major difference in the stiffness/hardness of the two mats. The Genius Mat has hardly and give at all (meaning it doesn't bend much or curl). Unlike the Magnetic B mat, tons of give and curls pretty good without much effort.
I love the Evolution Advances but they need to re-work this Magnetic B Mat as it sucks for cutting thin dies. Not to mention, that it's not terribly magnetic either but I can live with that. Defeats the purpose of having a cutting mat that doesn't allow you cut!!!
Oh and on the 'self healing' front... not really. It shows every cut mark very clearly thanks to all of the embedded paper in each cut (that applies to the Genius B Mat as well)!!!
We R Memory Keepers really needs to rethink this one... and you should too, if you're looking at buying.
Love love love the magnetic board for my dies. Now they don't slip and I don't have to worry about having to re-cut. It's worth every penny to me. Fast shipping too!!

I love this mat! How I wish I would have got it when I first got my Big Shot. It works so very good! I don't have to worry about small dies accidentally falling off the platform onto the floor when I separate the paper from the machine after cutting. I have recommended it to my best crafting buddy. The price is to run for!
It will work on my extended dies, as well as the regular ones. There is no buying two different sizes. I am very happy with this product.
I love this and have been wanting one for quite a few years but felt that I couldn't afford one. I was very happy to discover that this one was considerably cheaper than other brands so I ordered it and I am happy with it.
You don't need this for your Evolution machine but you will appreciate having it. No taping down your dies anymore. Magnetic base is awesome!
Love this magnetic mat because your dies do not shift around while cutting.
the grid lets you Aline diesso you can cut more at a time.
I purchased this after I bought my machine. Before I purchased it I had issues at times with things shifting. And then if I used Washi tape sometimes after running it through it would rip my paper when pulling it off. The magnetic mat has made this process much easier and it even holds well with thicker card stock. I would recommend this product for sure!

If it's magnetic, then it's meant to be used with thin metal dies, NOT needed for embossing. I'm guessing the A mat is the base plate to be used under the dies, with a non-magnetic plate on top. I don't think you can use 2 magnetic mats together, but I may be wrong. So what is the B mat used for?

The magnetic mat is used in lieu of the "regular" B mat for cutting, and according to the directions the "sandwich" is, starting at the bottom, magnetic mat, paper, thinlett / die, and platform with the holes side up. It works great, much easier than trying to keep the die in place without it.

How does the mat heal itself? I can see the die cut impression in the mat.

The mat doesn't really "heal" itself. It is just like the mats you use to cut on with a craft knife. I'm not crazy about this feature either and find that the mat tends to warp with extended use. I have tried to flip the mat over to rotate it, but then you get cuts on both sides. Same problem with the magnetic mat if you place your dies cut side down on it.
