Clean. Fresh. Summery.  These are the words that come to mind when I look at this gorgeous color scheme. This color combination reminds me of the tropics and the beach, but it truly can be used for any event or theme.

Color Test 1: The Basics

This layout was created using the three basic colors in the color combination above. It's a very simple layout; however, the elements were placed strategically to create a strong visual effect. The aqua background creates a strong, colorful background to enhance the other colors in the layout. The thick strip of tangerine paper gives the layout a bold anchor. The orange, aqua, and white flowers help pull the eye to the center of the layout to the most important part: the photo.  The clean white of the photo mat accentuates the photo even further. Add a pop of clean color with the white title.

Color Test 2: Darken Those Colors

When looking at a color scheme, you don't have to use it exactly as you see it. I used the same color scheme here, but I darkened it a bit, creating a different layout altogether. The colors I used here were teal, pumpkin, and cream. I even used hints of brown and black to further darken the color hues. These colors may not sound appealing together, but they work! Don't be afraid to take chances with the colors you use. Be creative and have fun. You just might discover a beautiful color scheme.

Color Test 3: Add Pops of Other Colors

When you first look at this layout, it obvious uses the same color scheme as used as above. But, take a closer look, and you will see pops of vivid red and bright lime green.  Again, don't be afraid of altering the colors you see when a color combination is presented to you. These colors look great together because aqua and orange, as well as red and green are complementary, which means they are on the opposite sides of the color wheel.Complementary colors always look great together! So, now you've learned that you can use a color combination for inspiration, but that you can also add another color or two to enhance your layout!

I hope these examples and suggestions have given you some inspiration. Now, my challenge for you is to use the color combination of Ocean Aqua, Tangerine, and Coconut White  and the tips found in this article to create some beautiful layouts. Don't forget to share them on the message boards and to upload them in the gallery. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Have fun!
