Yes, you actually see photos of our toilet! Disgusting, I know...but I had to do it. The journaling explains why: Okay…YES, I know it’s morbid to take pictures of a dead fish. And, NO, I don’t usually take photos of our toilet. However, in this instance it was all I could do! Savannah won “Nibbles” in April 2006 at the Scott Teays Carnival. I really didn’t want a fish, but I have to admit that he quickly grew on me. And the kids were crazy about him. Due to my “luck” with fish as a child, I truly did not expect him to survive his first night with us. So I was even more shocked when, week after week, he continued to swim around in his little bowl. Since he is technically our first family pet, I told the kids several times that I needed to get a picture of him. But I kept waiting for the perfect moment with a sparkling clean bowl and the kids looking their best…And then the inevitable happened. As Savannah and I were heading home from an eye appointment in June, Marc called to ask what he was to do with Nibbles. I knew what he meant. I told him to wait for us to get home and, on the way, I told Savannah what had happened. She was very upset and blamed Carson (imagine that) for sticking his lollipop in the fish bowl a few days earlier! Anyway, we decided it was only appropriate to have a proper “burial” for the little guy. And, with the kids crying, we carried him to the restroom, said our departing words, and gave the ceremonial flush. I HAD to get a picture of him somehow…so this is what it came down to.
Goodbye, little Nibbles. You are sadly missed.
