"At Seventeen" by Janis Ian has always held special memories for me, and for some reason, when i read about this challenge, they came to mind. the butterflies symbolize the beauty i never was, but always wanted to be.

When i first heard this song, i identified with it so completely, that it became my anthem. i just knew the best things in life were reserved for the beautiful people and the rest of us were left dreaming. Now, though i know this is not necessarily true, i wonder what life would have been like if i had been born beautiful. i guess i'll never know. sept 2005
