A shot of Charlie in his 2nd favourite place. His favourite being my desk chair. Since purchasing this large cat post a few weeks ago Charlie has come to realize that he can lay down in comfort while staring at my chair. If I attempt to leave the chair for longer then 3 seconds then he manages to race over to it and lay down, close his eyes and look like he has been sleeping comfortably for hours. Trying to physically remove a 22 pound cat that insists on pretending he really is sleeping is not easy so my best bet is just to avoid that. That means leaving something in my chair so Charlie won`t get it. Small items like the remote control don`t work, he simply lies on top of them and pretends he is quite comfy that way (and I lose use of the remote which really sucks). I can only use whatever I can find that is within reach so my options in big items are rather limited. That leaves the dog. I have to call the dog, put him in the chair and convince him to stay there even though I am headed for the kitchen. It goes against his nature to let one of his humans enter the kitchen area alone. I can usually convince him to stay until he hears the fridge open. Even though I am only grabbing a drink (usually a can of ice tea so I don`t even require a glass, just grab the can and run back to my desk) the dog can`t help himself he has to come see what awesome thing I might have found. However, the few seconds the dog stayed in the chair has bought me time and if I am fast enough I can get back to my chair before Charlie gets in it. This is a 50/50 thing. If he gets there first then I graciously give in, go the kitchen, yell treats, give all the pets something and run back to my chair before Charlie finishes his. If I get there first I get to watch Charlie walk away like he wasn`t interested in my chair anyway. Then I get to nurse my stubbed toe or scraped knee or whatever I received while racing through my house (I am too old for this!). And for the record Charlie doesn`t steal my chair unless I am using it. If I am on the couch or anywhere else he just ignores it completely. Nor does he do it just to make me give treats cause sometimes he still won`t get out of the chair. I`ll bring the treats to him trying to entice him to the floor but he just looks at me, yawns, smiles (I swear he smiles) and goes to sleep. This photo here is what he looks like while waiting for my chair. Maybe this is payback for bringing the dog home. Either way I feel like I got him at the moment, Renia just brought me a drink so he can just sit there stare all he wants! TFL
