Thanks for the explaining the technique! I've seen people do this in other layouts but now where NEAR to this extent - you really had a go with your kraft knife! The end result is fabulous here though.. and the title tells a story - I always love that!
Here's how I got the effect with the elements of the patterned paper appearing on top of my photo: I placed my photo where I wanted on the background paper and lightly traced around it in pencil. I removed the photo then I cut out with my craft knife any of the elements that appeard inside the trace lines (and I only cut the ones that I wanted to have over my photo), making sure I stopped my cut marks at the pencil lines (so that the elements were still attached to the back ground paper). I erased my pencil lines, then slid my photo back into place (with my cut-out elements on top) and adhered the elements to my photo. I flipped the layout over and adhered a piece of carstock to the back to keep the photo in place.
