wrote this about my brother Scott...I love him just the same…

There once was a boy named Scott, he’s a special boy. He’s my big brother. Scott was born with Down’s syndrome. Although he’s my older brother he will always the same.

Scott was a silly boy and quite a character growing up, and still is to this day.

The things he would do, would embarrass me to no end. But I love him just the same.

He loved dressing up like a girl, matter of fact he worshipped girls, I think because there were so many females in his life he just wanted to be one. He would dress up in my tights, rain boots and add tennis balls in all (and you know where). But I love him just the same.

He wore my training bra to junior high, the boys in the locker room got quite a laugh, by the end of the 2nd period everyone knew about it. I was mortified, good thing we went to two different junior highs. But I love him just the same.

Thank goodness he finally grew out of the drag stage! The last time he really embarrassed me was at my wedding reception he decided to make his own wedding grown out of plastic bags. Everyone was busy getting ready for the reception at my parents house, the next thing I see is a naked young man with plastic bags tied together like a dress. He loved weddings, and most of all the idea of his sister being a blushing bride. Wow did I blush at this! This so-called wedding dress barely covered his parts (you know those plastic grocery sacks are kind of thin). Luckily only a few guests had shown up at the time. I on the other hand frantically rushed him upstairs to get some clothes on. What a memorable day to say the least. But I love him just the same.

The stories could go on and on, I have so many to tell. Not only is Scott a wonderful person, he’s a wonderful brother, son and now uncle. It amazes me how much love and joy he has to give, even given his challenges. I’m so lucky to have him in my life. He makes me the understanding, compassionate, patient, and good person I am. I will always love him just the way he is.
