I just played around with my new distress ink and crackle paint (on the letters "OH") on this one.

My dad died of mesothelioma on May 3, 2005, less than one month before I gave birth to DD1. He worked for the Department of National Defense as a Shipwright, building and retrofitting naval ships and submarines for over 35 years. In the 70s he worked extensively with asbestos almost daily. He never smoked, ate health food before it was cool, and bicycled 25 km to and from work, 9 months of the year. There is a lot of my dad on these pages. He fixed things with duct tape. He had a touch of OCD and kept ledgers of details like the kms he biked and the milage of his car. He loved etymology and read the dictionary. He played scrabble. His hands were always greasy from work. He liked my handwriting so I used it instead of stamps and Slice letters for my title.

Journalling is lyrics from Dave Matthews' Oh:
I hear you still talk to me
As if you're sitting in that dusty chair
Makes the hours easier to bear
...
And it's cold and darkness falls
It's as if you're in the next room so alive
I could swear I hear you singing to me
(love you oh so well)
