great spread:) Lots of journaling and the colors really make the pictures pop. I like how the papers really have no rhyme or reason in the background. It makes the formal matting of the pics stand out more. Great job!
SHCG: I like that the bird is done in two colors and how the letters in the first part of the title kinda blend into the polka dot pp. That said, when I see the pages as a spread, my eyes do go straight to the white space between the top two pictures across the spread. I thought of suggesting you flip flop the positioning between your Amazing Race photo (lol at your mom's observation) and the first part of the title, but then you'd break up the title. Then, after a little more thought, how about adding a sagging zipline from the AR photo to Greg's photo to tether them together? It might also be cute to add a little helmet to the bird. I absolutely love your pp choices, color scheme, and clouds. Zipping over to the next page. Fantastic response to the challenge with a clever use of the song title.
SHCG: Great idea with the cotton! Perfect for your clouds!! ----And super cute pictures. This looks like tons of fun and what a great way to see a lot of beautiful scenery. The blue polka dot paper on this page is throwing me a little bit and I think it is because it makes your titling letters blend in a little too much...I am wondering what it would look like to put them on a piece of paper of their own...
SHCG: Beautiful 2-pager! I love the colors! The photos are awesome! The journaling is great as usual! What a great idea to make clouds! I also like the little flowers! Great page!
SHCG: Wow this is beautiful! I love how you pulled out the colors from the pictures for your LO. The bird is adorable and I love the clouds. Awesome job :)
SHCG: What a FANTASTIC LO in response to my challenge. Lots of texture and dimension. The color scheme is perfect for the theme. I really like the mats with multiple colors. LOL, even Magpie Alphabet letters. Stuck with the bird theme completely. This LO "soars" to the top of meeting the challenge. Great job Sharon. Very inspirational LO. Inspirational in appearance and in actually "flying like an Eagle" (my fear of heights might delay my attempt to try it. Way to go!
This is my response to Michelle/Chell Rae's “Animal in Me” challenge for Scrap Happenzz Critique Group to scrap pics of me looking like an animal, using texture, embellies that symbolize or are the animal & including journaling. I used these pics of DH & me “flying” in Jamaica during a ziplining excurision! Thank you, Steve Miller Band, for the title inspiration. :)
This LO uses Sketches by Suzy sketch #67. I added texture by covering Cricut-cut clouds w/ cotton (& since cotton isn't lignin-free, I matted the pics so they wouldn't directly touch 'em). The bird & blue “circle” from the sketch (actually a flower) were also Cricut cut. I've had those letter stickers for a while but have never used them – love how they have tree/birds on 'em! Pardons how the scan cuts off the margins.
Journaling for those interested: “Thurs. 4/16/09 – Day 5 of the unbelievably FUN cruise that Greg & I took w/ my parents! Montego Bay, Jamaica. Brilliant warmth in the 80s & sunshine. Greg & I chose to ZIPLINE w/ Zipline Adventure Tours! Did our research & went w/ a company different from the ship's zipline canopy tours (Chukka) because Zipline Adventure was SO highly rated & received numerous rave reviews re: safety measures & quality construction. Also a few online reviewers were, like me, afraid of heights & LOVED it. It was absolutely AMAZING! The stair climbing to a few platforms, then standing there, was a little scary but the zipping was NOT, it was EXHILARATING beyond belief! You feel so secure in your harness, w/ all the safety backups in their setup. It was like controlled FLYING!! I am so glad we went. We had 1 or 2 fewer zips than Chukka's but ours were longer, Big Timba was 1,600 ft long! AWESOME. I so dug how my acrophobia was really gone while zipping – soaring through the air FLYING LIKE AN EAGLE! (um, a very special type of eagle tethered to safety ropes w/ a helmet on & holding a wooden bar, LOL). It was incredibly THRILLING! And there were fun peeps from the ship on the excursion too, so great to see couples & families enjoying time together. Gliding through the air & getting a bird's eye view of the lush Jamaican hillside below – it was so exciting to FLY!!!!”
I had terrific fun scrapping this challenge response – THANKS Michelle!
