I've been wanting to do journaling strips in something but it didn't ever fit with my mood I was going for! I figured this would be the perfect one to do it with because they remind me of how the ice palace is built. Ice is cut out in large blocks and lifted out of the water and placed on to the ice castle until it reaches its dementions that are pre planned. Each year is a theme. If you want to see older Ice Castles (like some of the first) google Adirondack Bunk or Bunk's Place. Its a weath of old pictures from where I live!
Thanks everyone! I'm a Saranac Lake native and have had been lucky enough to see it be built and enjoy it for the week to two weeks we celebrate "Carny". Any information you ever want on Winter Carnival just type Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in your search engine and the first if not second link should bring right to the Carnival's web page!
The Journaling reads: Welcome to one of the main attractions of the Annual Saranac Lake Winter Carnival! For a little more than a week, residents and visitors celebrate this history tradition. One of the main attractions is our Ice Castle. The Ice Castle is a must see at night as it is day time. Winter Carnival is one of my favorites-however the Ice Castle proves to be one of the most breathtaking magical parts of Carnival.
