Journaling:
"When you were just shy of 4-weeks-old, I started a real bedtime routine with you. One that included a bath, followed sometimes by a story (or two), but always including a nursing session while listening to music and rocking in the glider.

You love your bath every night, and it can change you from a fussy baby to a much more content one. You kick your feet in the water and love when the water goes down over your face. You're like your father in your love of water. Your mother highly dislikes her face being water-covered.

After your bath, you get changed into pajamas, and we go into your room. You don't yet use this room besides being changed here and this portion of your nightly routine. If you're wide awake, we sit in the glider, and as I rock you, I read you stories until you're ready to eat. Then, while you're eating, we rock to the lullaby CD. I sing to you the songs I know along with the CD. Some nights, we listen to the whole hour-plus of music.

Eventually, you finally get sleepy, and I'm able to swaddle you and put you into the bassinet in our bedroom. Soon, you'll start sleeping in your crib. Probably in another month. Maybe a tad bit more. It will all depend upon how quickly you continue to grow.

Right now, you're getting to sleep around 11pm. It seems that you have acquired your parents' night owl tendencies. Maybe we'll change some of how we go about our nightly ritual, but for now this is your

Bedtime Routine"
