Journaling reads:

Everytime I see this picture, I lose myself in laughter. Here's why: I had given my mom my recipe on how to make chocolate mousse, which calls for cocoa powder. With any other flavor of mousse, the cocoa powder is omitted. Well, she decided that she wanted to make pistachio flavored mousse to have for dessert at our Thanksgiving meal. So, before presenting this dessert, she forewarned me that it wasn't quite like mine. SO TRUE!

When she brought this dish to the table, the first thing that entered my mind was that it looked like a pile of ****. Instead of being smooth and fluffy, it was kind of lumpy, and instead of being the soft, pastel green that it was supposed to be, it was a pastel green with a brownish tint. Put the two combinations together and you have 'Mousse Poop'! Okay. That's enough with the criticism. Anyway, after thinking about it, I feel that I am partly to blame for this although I wasn't there, because I probably didn't make it clear to her that in order to have a smooth and fluffy texture, you have to let the cream cheese set out at room temp to soften up a little so that it will mix well and you have to whip it separately before mixing it with the pudding, and cocoa powder is to be used for chocolate flavored mousse only.

We learn from our mistakes and I believe she has learned from this one, because her mousse has gotten better since then. I've learned since then that I need to explain things more clearly if I am to be totally understood.

By the way....I didn't eat any, and it wasn't just because of its appearance. I didn't like the thought of having lumps of cream cheese in my mouth.
