Journaling reads: "We first met Sam back around 1980. We had been over to visit Jerry’s parents and when we went to get into our car, we heard the most awful yowling. It was Sam. He was just a little thing (maybe a couple of months old) and was stuck way up in a tree. My daddy always said there’s no such thing as a cat stuck in a tree – “have you ever seen a cat skeleton hanging in a tree???” But, we still felt the need to “rescue” this kitten. After some coaxing, and Jerry climbing and reaching as far as he could, we finally got him down. We put him down and as we were driving off, we looked back and saw him sitting there watching us. Well, of course, we couldn’t just leave him!!! So, he went home with us and became part of the family.
A few years later, Sam went missing – for two weeks. We had given up on ever seeing him again, when we heard this awful yowling one day. It was coming from our back fence. We went to look and there was Sam. He looked so pitiful; he had evidently been hit by a car and he couldn’t use his back legs and had dragged himself home. The vet told us that he was hopeless; he had a broken pelvis, broken tail and his bowels were impacted, that we should put him down. I wouldn’t give up on him, though. We gave him mineral oil to get him “moving” and boy did it work – I guess an adult dosage was a bit too much! Over the weeks, Sam proved to be a “miracle”, according to the vet. He quickly regained the use of his legs and eventually could even jump and climb again. His tail, however, was never the same – It always hung to one side and he never could lift it up in the air again. But, he was still the sweetest, most loving cat. Most cats that I’ve been around tend to be standoffish, but not Sam. He loved to sit in our laps, cuddle and have his tummy rubbed. He even tolerated the kids dragging him around. We had Sam for 17 years, about 14 more years after his accident. I am so glad we didn’t listen to the vet that time. Sam had a good life and is very much missed. Sam was the only cat we’ve had since we married, but he was the BEST cat ever!"

PPs are by Crate Paper; lettering is by Basic Grey. The design is a sketch from Page Maps. The cat sticker is really old - the bow on the neck was blue - I sanded it and colored it green. The larger paw prints are stamped, the smaller ones are stickers. Thanks for looking!!
