The Cadillac was Elvis' favorite make of car. His Black Cadillac is mentioned in the lyrics Santa Claus is Back in Town while his Pink Cadillac is mentioned in Baby Let's Play House.

Elvis bought the Pink Cadillac, which was originally blue in color, for his mother (although she never drove) in July 1955. According to Art, Elvis' next-door-neighbor at the time, he made the pink paint for Elvis which he named “Elvis Rose”. He claims to be the only one who knows the formula.

Though he owned and donated many different kinds of cars to friends and total strangers, this pink 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood is said to have been his favorite and the one car he never sold or gave away.

On September 2, 1955, $1,000 damage was caused to the Cadillac in an accident just south of Texarkana. The top of the car was painted white around March 1956. (Looking at the pink Cadillac in the photo it appears the top is pink but that is because of the quality of the photo I took in low lighting. With a magnifying glass or good light conditions, the top in the photo is definitely creamy white.)

This "PINK CADILLAC" has become one of the ultimate icons of Elvis and the 1950's, and it is arguably the most famous Cadillac in the world
