Well now...I neeeeed to get those Fiskars..have never seen them!! I had used my TH ones on metal rings.......WORLDLY MISTAKE!!! Now I have little chunks out of the blads..and god forbid that I NOT cut metal when I felt resistance!! LOL...Great tip and thanks!
Another can't do without scrapping tool is scissors. I have 2 go to pairs, the Tim Holtz Non-Stick Micro Serrated Scissors and the Fiskars Cuts and More Scissors. I actually received both as prizes in the National Scrapbooking Day Prize Packs from sb.com in 2 different years. (I got the TH ones about May 2009 and the Fiskars May 2011.) If wish there was a review of them like the one I am about to write because I would have bought them for myself immediately!
My Tim Holtz Non-Stick Micro Serrated Scissors are 2.5 years old and I have NEVER had to have them sharpened and they are nearly as sharp as the day I got them! I adore the versatility of these scissors--they can handle tough paper, even chipboard/grungeboard with ease, but also have a small tip and the sharpness to be used for detailed cutting. Also, these scissors are great it you tend to be accident prone (like I am) they do not easily cut your skin like some more "knife-like" scissors. (All scissors are incredibly sharp and should be used with caution, especially around children. These are NOT child-proof scissors and may not be suitable for children.) BUY these scissors, it is worth the $10 investment--I have not replaced them in 2.5 years and unless I lose them (which I am also prone to doing) I do not anticipate having to replace them anytime soon!
The Fiskars Cuts and More Scissors are a more industrial scissor. I find that I use them when I need to cut odd items--metal of all sorts including different wires, keys, and tags; rope/string/twine; wood; a 75 page book that was carved into a pumpkin; etc--The Fiskars scissors come to the rescue when normal scissors will not cut it. (ha, pun intended!) I have used them on the oddest of items, and perfectly normal items as well. However, I would not say these are the best "every day" scissors. Of course they cut paper, and even leave a smooth edge (these scissors are VERY, VERY sharp! Accident prone scrapper here and I have cut myself with them a few times.) but they are bulky, not easy to cut out something as simple as a square or circle & almost impossible to use for detail work. WIth that being said, I still think EVERYONE'S life would be easier with a pair of these in the house. There are many special features of these scissors, and they can be used in ways you would never have thought scissors could be used. If you do not want to ruin a great pair of paper or fabric scissors cutting odd items, then invest in the Fiskars Cuts and More Scissors--they are capable of handling most any material you throw their way and are not easily destroyed like a pair of fabric or paper scissors would be.
