I lost my brother last summer to congestive heart failure. As a teenager, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. No one really knew how to treat that, and he suffered through many years of treatments and medications. Finally, when he was 30 years old, my parents found a place in Michigan that monitored his behaviour, adjusted his medications, and helped him live a normal life. He had his own apartment, a car, and a part time job. You could tel that he was different, but he had a huge heart and loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. This photo was taken when he was 12 years old, and my parents had just given him this big red bike. He was a great student and athlete, and my parents wanted to give him something special. I scrapped this photo and framed it for my dad. He's having a very difficult time letting my brother go, and I thought it would help to remember him like he was on this day. Thanks for looking.
