You were kept on your toes, eh? Love the orange color which gives the feeling of heat! Super sewing and punching, fab candid pics, Patty! Fun and creative title work~ Hope this summer is cooler :)
xo
Yes, Patty it was one long, hot, dry, summer!!! So glad that you were home the day of the fire..love the colors you chose for this page!! love the multi pictures, they do tell the story!!! Sure hoping we don't have a repeat this summer, heat wise!!
Wow Patty good thing you all were home, how scary! But the beauty of this layout reveals you took it all in stride with your normal dignity and grace.
PS I had a slab leak..not fun!
I'm so very happy that you all survivied that summer Patty! Great photos & super fab design!! I am so loving yellow these days! Maybe longing for Spring?
Wow what a wonderful depiction and description of your summer last year , sounds so much like ours here in Australia. This year it didn't happen , the rains came instead, it was great in some ways. The colours radiate the feeling of heat and the flowers are amazing. But what does a hot skunk smell like?Glad your home survived ok.
Wow.....amazing how you transformed your times of trouble into something to beautiful! But that's you, Patty...the sweet-natured optimist :) Gorgeous page...the colours are amazing!! (BTW, what on EARTH is in that cage...photo bottom right??)
Great use of colors to depict the hot summer - the distressing depicting your feelings - and the flowers and butterflies to depict the hope of survival - sounds like it was quite eventful, too - glad you were able to get that fire out - good thinking on your part to take quick action - great job...
Oh Patty! This is such an absolutely beautiful page depictine your long, hot summer! It must have been brutal trying to plan your mom's party in that heat. And oh my goodness - I am so sorry that you had a fire, but happy that you were able to put it out right away. You go girl! Woohoo!!!!!
I feel you pain!! Is that an opossum you have caged there? I get those. I have a raccoon that tears up my bird feeder and just came into my Florida room the last few nights to scarf up some cat food. LOL!! I also have an armadillo that's tearing up my yard every night. No skunks or fires yet though thank goodness!! I do dread this summer though!! You page is fantastic. I just love the colors and the way you did your flowers and butterflies.
Holy moly I can feel the heat just looking at this layout!! The colors are so vibrant and dare I say WARM?! Gorgeous page, as always!!! You were so fast acting in your response to the fire that the fire department should have made you an honorary firewoman! Your vines and flowers are very beautiful and beautifully placed! (hope this summer is not as bad)
OMGoodness..it had you hopping!! Fire...so scary!! Love the lo, wonderful bright pps and great stitching!! Superb photos..I feel bad for the poor little guy in the cage...looks so scared! xox
It was a rough year all types of life in Texas for sure. At least we are getting the rain now...I will never complain about rain again after last summer. Love your layout...and I am glad the fire wasn't any worse..
Wow! What a good thing you caught the fire in time! You are very lucky! The colors on this lo are perfect for your story. Poor animals! Congrats on being a GD and so deserved!
This layout was created for SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE. What an honor it has been to serve as guest designer for the month of March. It seemed that the colors in the March kit were perfect to convey just how long and hot our Texas Summer was in 2011. We struggled through record setting heat, drought, critters and a slab leak...all while planning a party for my mother's ninetieth birthday. The most frightening thing that happened to us was the fire that started in our neighbor's backyard pool pump. Fortunately, I was home and heard the loud popping in time to run outside and find our fence and three trees engulfed in flames! I grabbed our garden hose and did my best to keep the situation under control until the fire department arrived. We didn't think that our long, hot Summer would ever end!
