Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 – the sea day was a bit rough but bearable. However, we would be very happy not to ever have a day this rough again. If they were all this bad, we'd never cruise again. We were able to attend trivia's and meals but it was hard to walk with all the rocking motion. Not many other people out and about – many were seasick and stayed in their cabins.

It was a nice surprise to find printed stationary for Holland America personalized with our names and stateroom number. Never have I been given personalized stationery on a cruise ship! I overhead Bill tell several of our friends, “No point in trying to use it, I know it will end up in the scrapbook.” Yep, he knows me well!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 – Today was a little smoother. It was also LOBSTER NIGHT! For that we were willing to dress up for formal night. Then we found out we didn't have to. Holland America is the first ship we have been on that has the same food choices in the casual buffet every night – same foods that are on the formal dining menus so you can get lobster without dressing up. However, I had a new blue gown and I wanted to wear it so Bill put on his suit and we had a wonderful lobster dinner in the main dining room.

Later our friend, Jan, relayed her story of formal dining night to us. (She is the woman who was also on the Italy-Singapore cruise with us.) She really dressed nicely for formal dining that night and was ready early so she walked through some of the little shops and jewelry stores. One jewelry shop in particular has Faberge' eggs and very expensive items! She was admiring a necklace but quickly lost interest when told the price was $65,000! However, they insisted she borrow it and wear it to dinner! So Jan was not only dressed to the nines for dinner that night, she had a $65,000 trinket around her neck! Several men on the ship's staff escorted her back to the jewelry store after dinner.
