Hey! What happened to the toilets?
Throughout South Korea and much of Asia, instead of Western Toilets they have “squatters”. I always refused to try it and always went in search of a “normal” toilet.

In some of the restrooms the stall doors had a picture of a western toilet or a squatter. In the picture above, the stall on the right is obviously a western toilet but the one to the far left (hard to see in the photo) has a drawing of squatter on the door.

We went into one 10-story building - every floor had large restrooms. The only "western" toilet (and there was only one in the entire building) was in the ladies room on the 7th floor. The rest of the stalls, even on that floor had squatters. In some places it really was impossible to find a western toilet.

Some of our shipmates finally gave in and tried the squatters when there was no choice but I never had to. There were a lot of complaints about the inconvenience when wearing jeans or slacks!
